Patent number: 8164632Abstract: A picture is scrolled on a display 5 to be measured, and the scrolling moving picture is pursuit-captured by a color camera 3 so as to obtain a pursuit-captured moving picture image. A moving picture response curve using received light intensity data obtained based upon the pursuit-captured moving picture image is converted into a color moving picture response curve using emission intensity of display elements of the display 5 to be measured. The coloration of an edge part of the pursuit-captured moving picture image is decomposed into the respective color components, by which objective quantitative evaluations of color shifting can be made.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2007Date of Patent: April 24, 2012Assignee: Otsuka Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshi Enami, Yoshihisa Furukawa, Hiroyuki Nakamoto, Tsutomu Mizuguchi

Patent number: 7483550Abstract: A test pattern is moved on a screen 5 subject to measurement with the field of view of an image sensor pursuing the motion of the test pattern so as to observe BEW. Subsequently, the field of view 33 of the image sensor is moved at the same velocity vc as in the foregoing observation to capture an image of a static pattern PE, and a blur width W along the scrolling direction that appears in a distribution profile of the captured image is observed. Based upon the blur width W and the exposure time of the image sensor for capturing the image of the static pattern PE, the moving velocity of the test pattern at the time of observation of the BEW is estimated, and by using the moving velocity, the BEW is normalized. Evaluation of the moving image quality of the screen is carried out by using the normalized N BEW. The moving velocity of the original test pattern can thus be estimated easily and accurately, and accordingly, the moving image quality of the screen can be evaluated accurately.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2004Date of Patent: January 27, 2009Assignee: Otsuka Electronics Co., LtdInventors: Koichi Oka, Yoshi Enami

Publication number: 20080238820Abstract: A motion picture moving on a display screen 21 of a display device 2 to be evaluated is captured a plurality of times by means of a galvano camera 3a. The captured data include locations of the moving picture in the moving direction on the display device 2 to be evaluated and data on luminance of the display device at the respective time points of the locations. Based on these data, a motion picture eye-tracking simulation is performed, where an integration along the eye tracking direction over an integral multiple of 1 frame time is performed to obtain a motion picture response curve of the display device 2 to be evaluated. Evaluations of motion picture characteristics and motion picture blur can be made based on the motion picture response curve.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2008Publication date: October 2, 2008Inventors: Yoshi Enami, Masahiro Kikuchi, Tsutomu Mizuguchi, Hiroyuki Sano

Publication number: 20060160436Abstract: A screen motion image quality measuring/evaluating apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a rotatable mirror 2; a camera 3 for capturing a screen through the mirror 2; and a control unit 6. The control unit 6 is arranged to control such that when it is detected based on a change in the luminance of a screen 5 that a test pattern contained in a motion image displayed on the screen 5 has passed a predetermined position of the screen 5, a trigger for rotation is given to the mirror 2, and such that after the start of rotation of the mirror 2, the mirror 2 rotates as keeping pace with the movement of the test pattern. Without electric synchronism of rotation with a motion image signal, a trigger for rotation can be given to the mirror 2. Thus, the quality of a motion image on the screen can be measured with a simple structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2003Publication date: July 20, 2006Inventors: Koichi Oka, Yoshi Enami
