Abstract: In an auxiliary apparatus for starting a diesel engine having a quick preheating circuit operable by the switching of a key-switch from its OFF to ON position and an afterglow circuit operated by the return of the key-switch from the ST position to ON position, there is provided a heat maintenance preheating circuit to maintain the temperature of the glow plugs for a predetermined time after the quick preheating operation is finished. The heat maintenance preheating circuit for maintaining the temperature begins its operation just after the immediate heating operation by the quick preheating circuit is finished, and continues its operation for a predetermined period while the key-switch is at its ON position. As a result, even when the engine is not started to operate immediately after the initial preheating, the temperature of the glow plugs is kept at the predetermined temperature, thus assuring smooth starting of the engine.

Abstract: A skin-protecting cosmetic composition comprising a hydroxypropyl-etherified glycolipid ester represented ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; R.sup.2 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having carbon atoms of 11 to 15 when R.sup.1 is a methyl group, or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having carbon atoms of 12 to 16 when R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom; a represents the group ##STR2## R.sup.3 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having carbon atoms of 1 to 20 or --(A).sub.h H; and a, b, c, d, e, f, g and h are each integers, whose sum ranges from 1 to 60.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition comprising as an essential component a glycolipid ester represented by the formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; R.sub.2 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 11 to 15 carbon atoms when R.sub.1 is a methyl group, or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 12 to 16 carbon atoms when R.sub.1 is a hydrocarbon atom; and R.sub.3 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrogen group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms is effective for skin and hair treatment.

Abstract: Glow plugs (16), (17), (18), (19) for a Diesel engine are connected to a power source (12) through a switch (13) to receive electrical power. A time constant circuit including a capacitor (32) and resistors (31), (33) is connected to the power source (12) through another switch (27) together with the glow plugs (16), (17), (18), (19). The time constant circuit is constructed so that the voltage across the capacitor (32 ) is proportional to the temperature of the glow plugs (16), (17), (18), (19). A comparator (34) opens the switches (13), (27) to disconnect the power source (12) from the glow plugs (16), (17), (18), (19) and time constant circuit when the voltage across the capacitor (32) is above a predetermined value and closes the switches (13), (22) to connect the power source (12 ) to the glow plugs (16), (17), (18), (19) and time constant circuit when the voltage across the capacitor (32) is below the predetermined value.

Abstract: Control apparatus for glow plugs provided for a diesel engine having a control circuit arrangment for controlling the supply of an electric current from a battery to the glow plugs in response to the temperature condition of the diesel engine. When the engine is cold, the supply of the electric current lasts until a predetermined temperature of the glow plugs is attained. After attainment of the predetermined temperature of the glow plugs, a low level electric voltage is applied to the glow plugs so as the maintain the predetermined temperature thereof. When the engine is warmed up, the supply of an electric heating current to the glow plugs is commenced at the same time as the starting operation of the diesel engine.
