    Abstract: The present invention provides: an object detection device that can appropriately specify, or estimate, the presence region (the vehicle length or the like) of an object, such as another vehicle, that is in the periphery of a vehicle; and a vehicle control system that comprises the object detection device. The present invention comprises: an external environment information acquisition unit 2 that acquires external environment information for different detection regions in the surroundings of a vehicle; and an object presence region setting unit 3 that associates detection results from the external environment information acquisition unit 2 for the different detection regions and specifies, or estimates, object presence regions in which an object is present or in which an object may be present in the surroundings of the vehicle.
