  • Publication number: 20020053992
Abstract: In an antenna for communicating an electromagnetic wave, a first converger converges the electromagnetic wave. A second converger faces the first converger and includes a conductor plate having a through hole, into which a magnetic flux of the converged electromagnetic wave is converged. The through hole is formed at a center portion of the conductor plate so as to have a size which is sufficiently smaller than a wavelength of the electromagnetic wave. The conductor plate is formed with a cutout extending from a part of the through hole to an outer periphery of the conductor plate. A converter faces the through hole of the conductor plate to convert the converged magnetic flux into voltage.

  • Patent number: 5452958
Abstract: The invention provides an drive coil protection apparatus and method and a printer incorporating the apparatus. A rank memory stores a preset rank value associated with a reference drive coil in the print head of a printer. The preset rank value characterizes inherent deviations associated with the reference drive coil. The deviations result from manufacturing process, etc. A judgment value memory stores a plurality of sets of mode judgment values. Each set of mode judgment values corresponds to a particular rank value. Each mode judgment value represents a threshold value for determining the thermal condition of the print head and for selecting an appropriate operating mode for the print head. A head information detector detects the voltage drop across the reference drive coil to measure the change in the resistance of the reference drive coil. The voltage drop is digitized for accuracy measurement. The change in temperature of the reference drive coil can thus be determined.

  • Patent number: 5126253
Abstract: A novel cell line for use as a parent for hybridoma preparation is provided. This cell line is derived from tumor cells, in particular human tumor cells, other than those originating from bone marrow cells. A method for establishing this cell line is also provided. By fusing this cell line with cells producing useful physiologically active substances, such as B cells immunized with an antigen, a hybridoma capable of active growth can be prepared. This hybridoma can be cultivated for the production of useful physiologically active substances.

Abstract: A method for molding a thermosetting resin pipe having a balanced compressive strength between the axial direction and the direction normal to the pipe axis is disclosed. The method includes steps of molding a thermosetting resin in a smooth zone in the front section of a screw to such an extent that the resin after being extruded from the cylinder is capable of retaining its own shape, and orienting the resin and/or a fibrous filler randomly. An apparatus for producing such a thermosetting resin, and a thermosetting resin having a balanced compressive strength are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4617207
Abstract: Disclosed herein are thermoplastic resin sheets having a thermal shrinkage within .+-.0.3%, and a process for producing thermoplastic resin sheets by co-extruding a first thermoplastic resin and a second thermoplastic resin which is nonadhesive to the first thermoplastic resin, into a sheet-like structure so that the first thermoplastic resin is covered on both surfaces thereof with the second thermoplastic resin and then peeling off the resulting outer layers of the second thermoplastic resin B to obtain a sheet of the first thermoplastic resin. The thermoplastic resin sheets obtained in accordance with the above production process have an extremely small thermal shrinkage, undergo an extremely low degree of mechanical strain, and exhibits a little optical anisotropy. Because of the small thermal shrinkage, they may be used in liquid crystal displays (LCDs), poultice or sticker.
