  • Patent number: 5280143
Abstract: A muffler disposed close to the atmospheric discharge end of the exhaust system, consisting of an accelerating part (4) which accelerates the exhaust gas flow and a negative pressure chamber (5) which generates negative pressure in association with the acceleration thereof. Said negative pressure acts to connect the negative pressure chamber (5) with the flow-distributing chamber (2) disposed on the exhaust pipe (1) at the upper stream of the silencing part (19) by means of the bypass (9), in order to promote suction of the exhaust gas flow. The flow-distributing chamber (2), which has a larger cross-sectional area than that of the exhaust pipe (1), contains at its center an exhaust port (3) which is opened to the accelerating part (4), and flow-distributing holes (7) that are opened to the bypass (9) in the peripheral area.

  • Patent number: 5179838
Abstract: An apparatus for driving a turbo supercharger (6) of an internal combustion engine (1) including an exhaust gas driven turbine (61) driving a compressor (62) for pressurizing engine intake air wherein a gas suction duct (10) is connected to the outlet (8) of the exhaust gas turbine (61), through which the exhaust gas flowing through the turbine is discharged, thereby sucking the exhaust gas discharged from the turbine and driving the turbine by simultaneous positive and negative pressures. The suction force is produced by a negative pressure generator (5) provided in the exhaust gas conduit (2) downstream of the exhaust gas turbine outlet.

  • Patent number: 5165234
Abstract: Apparatus for driving a turbosupercharger for an internal combustion engine wherein a negative pressure is generated by accelerating the exhaust gas flow. A turbine (40) is driven by the negative pressure generator (30) and a supercharging turbine (50) is operated by the turbine (40), so that as the suction air is pressurized beforehand, the energy of the exhaust gas flow acts on the turbine (40) by connecting the inlet of the turbine (40) to an exhaust system pipe (20). A low-pressure suction air flow acts on the downstream side of the turbine. In this way, the exhaust gas flow discharged to the turbine outlet is absorbed, and the turbine (40) is driven by the energy of the exhaust gas which flows through the exhaust system pipe (20) as well as by suction force of a powerful negative pressure, which is generated separately. A negative-pressure generator (30) is provided at the downstream end of the exhaust system pipe to generate the suction force.

  • Patent number: 5115641
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of and an apparatus for driving a turbosupercharger wherein including an exhaust gas turbine (61) is driven by the exhaust gas energy of an internal combustion engine (1), and a supercharging turbine (62) is actuated driven by the exhaust gas turbine, so as to supercharge the engine with suction intake air; characterized in that suction air wherein exhaust gas, streams of in exhaust pipe (2) generate negative pressure (5) which is connection (10) to the turbine outlet (8) from which exhaust gas streams passed passing through the exhaust gas turbine are emitted, whereby the exhaust gas streams to flow to at the turbine outlet are is drawn off to assist in the driving of by suction, and the exhaust gas turbine is driven under a positive pressure and simultaneously under a negative pressure based on the force of the suction.

  • Patent number: 5014512
Abstract: This invention provides a device for accelerating an exhaust gas stream discharged from the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine the flow velocity of said gas stream having been lowered under the internal resistance by passing through the exhaust system ducts, machinery and tools such as catalyzers, mufflers interposed in the exhaust gas stream. The exhaust gas stream the flow velocity of which is accelerated through an acceleration portion or portions as much as possible to the flow velocity of the exhaust gas stream discharged immediately after it has been discharged from the combustion chamber is discharged into the air. As a result thereof, the exhausting efficiency can be improved and the exhausting characteristics are stabilized so that the rotational output is stabilized at the time of low-speed driving, and the decrease of the back pressure contributes at the time of high-speed driving so that it has the advantages that the so-called stretching of the rotation becomes better.

  • Patent number: 4926638
Abstract: A negative pressure air stream accelerator for a suction type air cooling mechanism for cooling an internal combustion engine produces negative pressure by accelerating the exhaust gas stream to form a strong negative pressure connected to the cooling device to draw cooling air therethrough, and accelerates the velocity of the exhaust gas by providing at least one stage of acceleration units for throttling by a reduced cross-sectional area of the exhaust gas passage having an outer casing connected to the cooling device, the accelerator having holes through the walls thereof communicating with the interior of the casing. A plurality of stages are provided in series for utilizing the air stream accelerated to a high velocity at the final negative pressure stream.
