  • Patent number: 6118628
Abstract: A magnetic film having a high saturation magnetic flux density larger than 1.5 T and a resistivity larger than 40 .mu..OMEGA..cndot.cm is fabricated through an electroplating method using (40-60)Ni-Fe and by adding Co, Mo, Cr, B, In, Pd or the like to the (40-60)Ni-Fe. Thereby, it is possible to obtain a recording head capable of performing sufficient recording in a high frequency range and to obtain a disk storage system with a high recording density which has a transfer rate higher than 15 MB/s, a recording frequency higher than 45 MHz and a rotating speed of a magnetic disk higher than 4000 rpm.

  • Patent number: 4907015
Abstract: A thermal printing head in accordance with the present invention has a substrate formed of an electrical insulator, heating elements formed on the substrate, and conductive layers formed on the part of the heating elements that is adjacent to and on either side of heat generating portions of the heating elements. The resistivity of heating elements is set at a value of not less than 1000 .mu..OMEGA..cm and, simultaneously, the thickness of conductive layers is set at a value of not more than 300 nm. By virtue of this arrangement, it is possible to reduce the distance between the heat generating portions of the head and the printing paper or ink sheet, and the thin conductive layers contribute to minimizing diffusion of the heat. The thermal printing head is therefore capable of efficiently and accurately transferring heat generated by the heat generating portions to the printing paper or ink sheet.

  • Patent number: 4773059
Abstract: An information recording and reproducing apparatus is disclosed, which makes use a recording medium made of a metal or alloy having phases different in their crystalline structures at at least two temperature regions in the solid state and capable of causing phase transformation by heating and quenching. Information such as signals, letters, patterns and symbols are recorded in a distinctive manner and erased by making use of a change in the spectral reflectance owing to the phase transformation. Rewriting can be made easily by making use of the energy of a light beam such as a laser beam.

  • Patent number: 4726858
Abstract: A recording material made of an alloy capable of exhibiting different spectral reflectances at an equal temperature, depending on a heating-cooling cycle to which the alloy is subjected. The alloy can possess in solid state different crystal structures at a first temperature higher than the room temperature and at a second temperature lower than the first temperature but not lower than the room temperature. A part of the surface of the alloy exhibits, as a result of being quenched from the first temperature, a crystal structure which is different from the crystal structure at the second temperature, while the other part possesses the crystal structure at the second temperature, so that these two parts exhibit different spectral reflectances. Using this recording medium, it is possible to record, reproduce and erase information by means of, for example, laser beams.
