    Abstract: A light diffusing laminated plate including a first light diffusing layer containing particles of a transparent light diffusing material dispersed therein and having a concave cross-section, and a second light diffusing layer containing particles of an opaque light diffusing material dispersed therein and having a convex cross-section. The first and second light diffusing layers are laminated together such that the convex and concave surfaces are face to face contact with each other to form a curved interface therebetween. The first and second light diffusing layers have a substantially uniform cross-section in one direction. A transmissive screen for a rear projection display device having a light image source, including the above light diffusing laminated plate and a lens system disposed such that a light image from the source is projected through the light diffusing laminated plate and the lens system and displayed on the screen.

    Abstract: A composite, thermoplastic resin film includes a matrix in the form of a film, and formed of a first thermoplastic resin and a plurality of substantially continuous tapes dispersed within the matrix film with the plane of each of the tapes being substantially parallel with the plane of the matrix film and each formed of a second thermoplastic resin different from the first resin, a portion of the tapes having a width of at least 200 times the thickness of the composite film so that the composite film has an oxygen permeation rate of 0.12-900 cc/m.sup.2.day.atm at a temperature of 20.degree. C. and a relative humidity of 65%. A method for producing the thermoplastic resin film includes mixing melts of the first and second resins using a static mixer, and extruding the mixed melt discharged from the mixer as is through a die. The film has an excellent gas barrier property and is suitably used for the preparation of cushioning materials.

    Abstract: A biaxially oriented blow-molded container composed of a thermoplastic gas-barrier resin (resin B) and a thermoplastic resin (resin A) other than resin B and having excellent gas-barrier property and delamination strength. The container comprises a substantially non-oriented mouth portion composed of resin A, a portion composed of two layers of resin A and one layer of resin B which are laminated with the resin A layer and the resin B layer occurring alternately and a portion composed of three layers of resin A and two layers of resin B which are laminated with the resin A layer and the resin B layer occurring alternately. A portion having a small radius of curvature where delamination tends to occur is formed in a three-layer structure. A process for producing the container is also provided.

    Abstract: A biaxially oriented multilayered container consisting of a body portion and a mouth portion. The body portion comprises one or more layers of a thermoplastic gas-barrier resin B and layers of a thermoplastic resin A other than the resin B which are larger in number than the resin B layers by 1, the resin A and B layers being laminated alternately, and at least the open end part of said mouth portion is composed of a single layer of the resin A. As a characteristic feature, a coarsely mixed resin layer of resins A and B in which the proportion of resin particles having a long diameter of not more than 10 .mu.m is not more than 10% exists in at least one of the boundaries between the resin A and B layers.

    Abstract: In a process for producing a plate-like polystyrene resin foam which comprises extruding a molten mixture consisting of a polystyrene resin and a volatile blowing agent by an extruder into a zone having a lower pressure than the inside of the extruder; the improvement wherein said volatile blowing agent is a mixture consisting of dichlorodifluoromethane, ethyl chloride and methyl chloride in which dichlorodifluoromethane accounts for 50 to 70% by weight of the mixture and the remainder consists of ethyl chloride and methyl chloride and the amount of ethyl chloride is at least 30% by weight based on the total amount of ethyl chloride and methyl chloride; and wherein said volatile blowing agent is present in said molten mixture in a proportion of 8 to 17 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polystyrene resin component.
