  • Patent number: 8646436
Abstract: A fuel pump attachment structure is provided that includes a cylinder head; a cylinder head cover joined to a top surface of the cylinder head; a bracket mounted to the top surface of the cylinder head so as to be located at a position outside the cylinder head cover; and a fuel pump attached to the bracket. The fuel pump is inserted into an opening formed in the cylinder head cover. A sealing member is arranged between an outer surface of the fuel pump and a surface of the cylinder head cover that defines the opening. Alternatively, a pressing portion is formed in a lower portion of the bracket. The pressing portion presses a pressed portion formed on a periphery of the cylinder head cover from above by means of a bolt that is inserted into the pressing portion and fastened to the cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 8297900
Abstract: A composite member 12, which is formed by integrating an OCV housing 14 and a cylinder head cover 13, is fixed to a cam cap 15 by a bolt 20. The bolt 20 is passed through a bolt insertion hole 16 of the composite member 12 and fastened to the cam cap 15. A step portion 20d is formed in a shank 20c between a head 20a and a threaded rod 20b of the bolt 20. A circumferential groove 21 is formed in the shank 20c between the step portion 20d and the head 20a of the bolt 20. The circumferential groove 21 extends along the outer circumferential surface of the shank 20c. An annular sealing member 22 is fitted in the groove 21. The threaded rod 20b of the bolt 20 is then screwed into the internal thread 19 of the cam cap 15, which is a coupled member. At this time, the step portion 20d of the bolt 20 contacts a contacting portion 16c in the bolt insertion hole 16 of the OCV housing 14. Also, the sealing member 22 contacts the inner circumferential surface of the bolt insertion hole 16 of the cylinder head cover 13.

  • Patent number: 8161928
Abstract: A cylinder head cover is formed by a synthetic resin outer shell, which is molded by inserting a metal valve case, which holds a oil control valve, in a mold. The valve case has a bolt fastening portion for fastening the valve case, together with the outer shell, to the cam cap. The valve fastening portion has a bolt insertion hole. The bolt fastening portion also has a flange that extends radially outward. The flange has through holes. The flange is embedded in the outer shell, and synthetic resin forming the outer shell fills the through holes.

  • Patent number: 8113162
Abstract: A tubular valve casing formed of metal is molded with an outer shell portion formed of synthetic resin. A valve body is inserted into the valve casing through an opening formed at an end of the valve casing and incorporated in the valve casing. An annular projection is formed in the outer shell portion and projects toward the end surface of the valve casing corresponding to the opening. A seal ring is arranged between the projection and the valve body.

  • Patent number: 8105518
Abstract: A valve case, which is a metal component, and an outer shell portion of a cylinder head cover, which is a resin component, are joined together through a seal material. First, a recess formed in the valve case is filled with a seal material in a liquid form. A skin layer is then formed by curing the surface of the seal material. Subsequently, the outer shell portion is formed by supplying a synthetic resin material onto the valve case in such a manner as to cover the skin layer, which is provided on the surface of a non-cured portion of the seal material. At this stage, the skin layer is broken by supply pressure of the synthetic resin material and thus the synthetic resin material and the non-cured portion of the seal material are joined together as an integral body.
