  • Patent number: 5008715
Abstract: A copying machine operable in a manual copying paper feed mode and an automatic copying paper feed mode which has an automatic paper feeding section and an inlet for receiving copying paper inserted manually. The automatic paper feeding section includes a cassette containing copying paper to be fed automatically, a feed roller for feeding the copying paper, and a lifting mechanism for lifting the copying paper for pressure contact with the feed roller. The inlet has a cover which is opened for manually inserting copying paper, and a guide member for guiding the copying paper to a position between the feed roller and the copying paper contained in the cassette. The manual feed mode is automatically switched to the automatic feed mode when the manually fed copying paper is exhausted and the cover remains closed for a predetermined time during the manual feed mode.

  • Patent number: 4972447
Abstract: A preset counter apparatus for copying machines and the like having respective keys corresponding to digit positions of units and tens and a display for displaying numerical value in the digit positions of units and tens. The preset counter apparatus is so controlled that a value "0" is automatically displayed in the units digit position when the key corresponding to the tens digit is initially activated and that a value previously set in the units digit position is maintained as it is regardless of the posterior activation of the key corresponding to the tens digit.

  • Patent number: 4952987
Abstract: A copying machine provided removably with plural developing units containing different colors of toner. Control unit of the copying machine detects the loading condition of the developer and inhibits the start of copying operation when at least one developing unit is not loaded into the copying machine. The control unit further performs a quick toner supply control, a control for a request for change-over of a developing unit being supplied with toner, and a control for the indication of a residual quantity of toner. The developing unit change-over control is performed so that a developing unit drive mechanism is changed over after the developer so far used is recovered into the developing unit.

  • Patent number: 4922295
Abstract: A copying apparatus reduces the possibility of copying error by displaying the copying parameters in different modes. The copying parameters include, for example, the number of copies, the paper size, and the magnification. Since the copying parameters may vary from one copying job to the next, the copying apparatus includes a standard set of copying parameters which are preferably displayed by using continuous lights. After the completion of a copying job, the copying parameters are displayed using intermittent lights, if the copying parameters are different from the set of standard parameters. The intermittent lights provide the next operator of the copying apparatus with an indication that the copying parameters are different from the set of standard parameters.

  • Patent number: 4896184
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus with a developing device in which first and second detecting elements are provided respectively at opposite ends of the device to detect that substantially same amounts of developer are present in both ends. By this, the image forming apparatus is permitted to start image formation only when the developer is evenly dispersed in the both ends of the device.

  • Patent number: 4796055
Abstract: An recording apparatus of the present invention has a manual paper feed mechanism which includes a paper inlet, a timing roller and a paper outlet. When a paper is inserted into the paper inlet at a proper timing, the paper is recorded images thereon and then discharged out of the paper outlet. When the paper is inserted at an improper timing, for example, during the rotation of the timing roller, however, the paper is discharged out of the paper outlet without image recording thereon.

  • Patent number: 4743941
Abstract: A copying apparatus provided with an automatic paper feeding mechanism capable of feeding paper manually, wherein a manual paper feeding passage is connected to a copy paper transporting passage of the automatic paper feeding mechanism, and a plurality of sensors are provided in the way of paper feeding passage to detect the inserting state of a manually fed copy paper. When a manually fed copy paper is inserted to a predetermined position of the manual paper feeding passage, the sensors detect the state of insertion and display them to let an operator know that the copy paper has been inserted to the predetermined position and state an image forming operation. If the manually fed copy paper has been pulled out after the image forming operation was started, the image forming operation is executed on the minimum size of the copy paper.

  • Patent number: 4697917
Abstract: A copying machine with a predetermined variable magnification range is capable of providing a wider range of magnification values. The copying magnification desired can be entered into the copying machine and if the desired magnification data is out of the predetermined range, the machine can automatically calculate the number of times that a copy must be made and can also determine the magnification ratio for each copy to produce the desired final magnification value. The number of times that the copying process must be repeated with the copying paper being used as an original for each process can be displayed to the operator.
