  • Publication number: 20020004821
Abstract: A mail system equipped with a mail address manager for managing a mail address or addresses of one or more destinations. When a mail address of a particular destination is updated, the mail address manager registers the old mail address of the particular destination and a new mail address in correlation with each other. The result is that, even when the mail address of an intended destination has been updated, a mail source can proceed to send an e-mail, which is addressed to the intended destination at the old mail address, exactly to the intended destination without checking whether the mail address of the intended destination has been updated. Also at the mail source, it is possible to send an e-mail exactly to an intended destination without checking a restriction on a system environment of the intended destination.

  • Publication number: 20010052121
Abstract: Without letting a user execute a cumbersome judgment of a version, an application program of the most suitable version is installed for data file automatically, thus an automatic activation of the application becomes possible. Firstly, a document file of a readout target is analyzed, a feature point as reserved word of macro instruction is extracted, and a version of an application suited for the document file is distinguished by an extracted feature point. Secondly, it is judged whether an application program of the version distinguished mentioned above is installed already. When found not being installed based on this judgment result, an application program of the version is newly installed.

  • Patent number: 6182156
Abstract: A data processing system at least a portion of which operates under control of an object-oriented program. The data processing system contains an object-oriented system, in which a plurality of objects are defined by the above object-oriented program, each of the plurality of objects belongs to a corresponding one of a plurality of classes as an instance of the corresponding one of the plurality of classes, and one or more inheritance relationships are defined between at least one pair of classes among the plurality of classes based on inheritance coupling information. An inheritance coupling information setting unit receives a first request, and sets at least one piece of the inheritance coupling information in a data storage area, in response to the first request. The inheritance coupling information held in the inheritance coupling information indicating unit can be referred to by at least one of the above plurality of objects.

  • Patent number: 6038585
Abstract: An autonomous distributed instruction book control device executes target processes while an instruction book which contains data pertaining to a processing procedure is transmitted among a plurality of processors having processing units. An input/output unit inputs a creation request of the instruction book and inputs and outputs processing requests to the instruction book. An instruction book control unit creates the instruction book through input of a creation request from the input/output unit, inputs the processing request to the instruction book, and outputs the processing result for the processing request through the input/output unit. An instruction book management unit manages the instruction book notified from the instruction book control unit.

  • Patent number: 5930226
Abstract: A recording apparatus generates a plurality of pieces of data to be recorded on a storage medium, and to be reproduced in a plurality of modes of reproduction; generates identification information indicating a reproduction mode; and writes the pieces of data and the identification information in the storage medium so that the pieces of data are written in a sequential order in which to be reproduced. The sequential order is independent of the plurality of reproduction modes. Each piece of data is accompanied by the identification information for that piece of data. A reproducing apparatus reads the pieces of data and the identification information, in the sequential order; detects the identification information which accompanies the respective pieces of data; and reproduces the pieces of data in the corresponding ones of the plurality of reproduction modes based on the accompanying identification information.
