  • Publication number: 20090297242
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image transfer portion for transferring a toner image to a printing sheet. A fixing portion includes a fixing member and a pressure member pressed against the fixing member for fixing the toner image to the printing sheet. A guide is between the image transfer portion and the fixing portion for guiding the printing sheet carrying the toner image toward a nip between the fixing member and the pressure member. The guide includes a rigid first guide plate and a flexible second guide plate joined to the first guide plate at a downstream portion thereof along a sheet feeding direction. The second guide plate has a free downstream end that is closer to the fixing member than a tangent line drawn to pass through the nip between the fixing member and the pressure member.

  • Patent number: 7187895
Abstract: A sheet nipping mechanism is applied to an image forming apparatus and has a transfer belt for transporting a sheet having a toner image through a photosensitive drum. A fixing roller and a pressure roller are downstream of the transfer belt and are vertically aligned in a paired manner to define a nip zone therebetween for nipping the sheet. A guide is disposed between the nip zone and the downstream end of the transfer belt. The fixing roller has a reverse-crown shape whose diameter is gradually reduced in a direction extending from each of the opposite transverse ends to the central region of the fixing roller. The guide has an edge opposed to the nip zone and is formed in a crown shape conformable to the reverse-crown shape. The sheet nipping mechanism prevents crimples and bouncing of sheet in the nip zone.

  • Publication number: 20060269329
Abstract: An image forming apparatus for forming a color image with a plurality of color toners includes: a photosensitive body, a rotary developing device for developing a latent image on the photosensitive body by selectively allowing developing units corresponding to their respective color toners to rotationally move to a developing position opposite the photosensitive body; and a cleaning blade for removing the residual toner on the photosensitive body. At least one color toner in the plurality of color toners is an irregular toner, and other color toners are spherical toners. The volume mean particle size of the irregular toner is not more than the volume mean particle size of the spherical toner. With this construction, high cleaning capability can be attained without impairing the merit of the spherical toner that enables a densely high-fine image to be obtained.
