  • Patent number: 5937398
Abstract: In a computation system for a topological map, a winner-unit-candidate-set calculation module calculates a winner unit candidate set which is the set of candidates for a winner unit corresponding to an input vector at a current input timing, on the topological map. The calculation module calculates the winner unit candidate set on the basis of, for example, a winner unit having been calculated at a past input timing near the current input timing. A winner-unit calculation module calculates the winner unit which corresponds to the input vector at the current input timing, as the unit which has received the maximum input among the units contained in the winner unit candidate set calculated by the winner-unit-candidate-set calculation module.

  • Patent number: 5915073
Abstract: A method for setting the flexibility of a manipulator includes the step of extracting characteristics of the flexibility such as elasticity from a measurement result of the flexibility of a human hand. The extracted characteristics are used for determining specifications for the flexibility of the hand of the manipulator. The specifications of the flexibility of the entire hand of the manipulator are converted into specifications of the flexibility of a joint of the manipulator for setting the flexibility of the joint of the manipulator.

  • Patent number: 5648709
Abstract: The present invention relates to a control method and a control apparatus for controlling a system output of a non-linear system with dynamic characteristics that vary corresponding to a control input. A value corresponding to dynamics of the non-linear system and a value corresponding to part of the dynamic characteristics are calculated from the control input. When desired trajectories are assigned to the system output and the part of the dynamic characteristics, the control input is updated so that the calculated value corresponding to the dynamics and the calculated value corresponding to the part of the dynamic characteristics accomplish the desired trajectories.

  • Patent number: 5640589
Abstract: Using a writing implement model defined in the O-XYZ coordinate system a character or graphic form is generated on a writing plane model (O-XY plane) defined in the O-XYZ coordinate system. A control polygon for a character or graphical form to be generated is designed in advance in the O-XYZ coordinate system and a smooth writing motion model is generated using local basis functions that are weighted by the coordinate values of the respective vertices of that control polygon. The position component of the writing motion model represents variations in the position of a representative point of the writing implement model in the O-XYZ coordinate system with respect to time, and the posture component of the writing motion model represents time-variations of its inclination in the O-XYZ coordinate system with respect to the O-XYZ coordinate system. The writing implement model and the writing plane model intersect at a time, thereby forming a character segment.

  • Patent number: 5492903
Abstract: Crystalline acetoxymethyl and pivaloyloxymethyl esters of (+)-(5R, 6S)-6-[(R)-1-hydroxyethyl]-3-(3-pyridyl)-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo-[3.2.0] hept-2-ene-carboxylic acid can be obtained by adding a poor solvent to a solution of acetoxymethyl or pivaloyloxymethyl ester of (+)-(5R, 6S)-6-[(R)-1-hydroxyethyl]-3-(3-pyridyl)-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo-[3.2.0] hept-2-ene-carboxylic acid in a good solvent. The crystalline penem compounds obtained show improved stability and are useful antibacterial agents.

  • Patent number: 4990838
Abstract: A movement trajectory generating system of a dynamical system uses neural network units (1, 2, 3) including cascade connection of a first layer (11, 21, 31), a second layer (12, 22, 32), a third layer (13, 23, 33) and a fourth layer (14, 24, 34), to learn a vector field of differential equations indicating forward dynamics of a controlled object (4). Conditions concerning trajectories of a final point and a via-point of movement of the controlled object and locations of obstacles are given from a motor center (5). While smoothness of movement is ensured by couplings of electric synapses using errors with respect to those conditions as total energy, least dissipation of energy is attained, whereby trajectory formation and control input for realizing the trajectory are obtained simultaneously.
