The supercharger includes: a supercharger rotation shaft to which an impeller is fixed; a supercharger holder that rotatably supports the supercharger rotation shaft; and a hydraulic tensioner that is mounted on the supercharger holder and suppresses slack of the chain. In the supercharger holder, a supercharger lubricating oil passage that introduces a lubricating oil to the supercharger is formed. A part of the lubricating oil introduced to the supercharger lubricating oil passage is supplied to a hydraulic cylinder of the hydraulic tensioner through a branch path.

The second sprocket is removably fitted to the input shaft by means of a bolt. The supercharger rotary shaft, the input shaft, the second sprocket and the bolt are all accommodated in a supercharger casing. The supercharger casing has a right side end face formed with an access opening through which access can be made to the second sprocket and the bolt from an axial direction.

The power of the crankshaft is transmitted to the supercharger through a counter shaft which rotatably supports a counter gear. The counter shaft extends parallel with the crankshaft, and a starter gear is arranged on the counter shaft so as to be aligned in the widthwise direction. The counter shaft is disposed rearward of the crankshaft, and the supercharger is disposed rearward of the counter shaft. A starter motor meshing with the starter gear is disposed frontward of the supercharger.
