  • Patent number: 6556134
Abstract: In display apparatus and method for an automotive vehicle, a display (2) is disposed on a position of the vehicle placed in a proximity to a dashboard surface of the vehicle and a controller (7), when a state of the vehicle which satisfies a predetermined condition is detected, executes a process to gradually reduce a brightness of an image screen of the display toward a predetermined direction which is more distant from a direction of a line of sight of a vehicular driver when the vehicular driver gazes a vehicular forward direction. In one embodiment, the controller gradually reduces the brightness of the image screen of the display toward the predetermined direction in a linear manner. The predetermined direction is, for example, directed from an upper end of the image screen to a lower end thereof.

  • Patent number: 5416844
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing periodical noises transmitted from a noise source into a vehicle passenger compartment. The apparatus comprises control sound sources for producing control sounds in the vehicle passenger compartment, residual noise sensors for detecting the residual noises in the vehicle passenger compartment, transfer function filters modeled on transfer function between the control sound sources and the residual noise sensors, and adaptive digital filters having variable filter coefficients. A reference signal is produced in the form of a series of impulses having the same period as the noises. The transfer function filters are convoluted with the reference signal to produce reference processed signals. The adaptive digital filters are convoluted with the reference signal to generate drive signals to drive the control sound sources.

  • Patent number: 5236182
Abstract: In order to attenuate vibration which tends to be transmitted from a power unit to a vehicle passenger during the idling mode of engine operation, ERF filled engine mounts are arranged so that when neither of two orifice passages are restricted by impressing a voltage on ERF viscosity control electrodes included therein, the frequency at which the dynamic spring constant exhibits a minimum value is the same as the frequency at which the vibration transmission phase maximizes while one of the two orifice passages is restricted by the application of a voltage on the set of electrodes disposed therein. Rapid cyclic control of the dynamic spring constant and the vibration transmission phase for each mount used to support a power unit is carried out. This enables a desirable compromise in the control of the two different parameters.

  • Patent number: 5226500
Abstract: A vibration sensor is disposed at an evaluation point on the vehicle floor proximate the driver's seat. This sensor, in combination with one disposed on a electrically controllable engine mount, is used to determine the magnitude and orientation of a vector of vibration which reaches the evaluation point and which combines with other vibrational vectors in a manner which results in the generation of vibration at the evaluation point. A mount control signal is controlled in a manner which modifies the vibration vector and attenuates the vibration at the evaluation point.

  • Patent number: 5111507
Abstract: A system for lowering noise level in a vehicular cabin produces an acoustic vibration canceling noise creative vibration induced in synchronism with an engine revolution. The system generates a rectangular wave signal having 50% duty cycle. The system includes means for producing a periodic signal having an interval half of a period of the noise created by vibration. The signal level of the rectangular signal is switched between HIGH and LOW levels alternatively at the time of occurrence of the periodic signal.
