  • Publication number: 20010015813
Abstract: A recording apparatus for recording on a recording medium in a heated mode comprises a first and second emitting portions. The first emitting portion emits writing light for providing recording spots on the recording medium. The second emitting portion emits sub-heating light for providing heating spots on the recording medium. A distance between the heating spot and the recording spot is substantially constant in a main scanning direction. The recording spots are arranged in a two-dimensional pattern including columns in the main scanning direction and rows in an auxiliary scanning direction. The recording spots aligned in the columns are inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the main scanning direction. The same number of heating spots as the columns of the recording spots is provided in parallel to the columns and inclined at the predetermined angle with respect to the main scanning direction.

  • Patent number: 6244179
Abstract: It is one objective of the present invention to precisely bring into contact with a recording drum or an image receiving sheet a adhesive roller that can remove dust therefrom, so as to prevent recording failures that occur because of dust that interferes with the proper adhesion of image receiving sheets and toner sheets. According to the invention, a recording apparatus comprises: a recording drum, to which an image receiving sheet is secured; a recording head; a step portion, which is provided on the recording drum to avoid an adverse affect resulting from the thickness of the image receiving sheet; and a adhesive roller, which has a stepped portion corresponding to the step portion on the recording drum and which is located near the recording drum for cleaning the surface of the recording drum and the surface of an image receiving sheet that is secured to the recording drum.

  • Patent number: 6233001
Abstract: An image recording apparatus for recording an image on an image recording medium, comprises a laser head for exposing the recording medium to laser light to record the image thereon, a laser light source for emitting the laser light, and an optical fiber connected between the laser light source and the laser head for guiding the laser light emitted from the laser light source to the laser head, the optical fiber having a core portion formed into a substantially rectangular shape in section, wherein a refractive index of the core portion along a first sectional axis is substantially constant and a refractive index along a second sectional axis perpendicular to the first sectional axis is gradually changed.

  • Patent number: 6219081
Abstract: Disclosed is an image forming apparatus comprising a first drum having an image receiving portion, an exposure section for applying imagewise thermal energy to the second drum in a state that a toner sheet with an image forming thin film is superposed on the image receiving portion of the first drum, with the image forming thin film being layered on the image receiving portion of the first drum, and a second drum for holding a final image supporting sheet thereon for finally supporting an image thereon. In the image forming apparatus, after an image is formed through the likewise application of the thermal energy by the exposure section and the image is transferred onto the image receiving portion, the toner sheet is separated from the image receiving portion of the first drum, and the final image supporting sheet is pressed against a predetermined location on the image receiving portion by a relative movement of the first drum to and from the second drum.

  • Patent number: 5663755
Abstract: The improved color image forming apparatus comprises a rotating member for rotationally scanning and transporting both an image-receiving material having an image-receiving layer and a colorant sheet having a peelable, thin colorant film, a holder for holding at least the image-recieving material on the rotating member, a lamenator for pressing the colorant sheet so that it adheres to the image-receiving material, a recording device for applying thermal energy to the image-receiving material and the colorant sheet, and a peel/transfer mechanism by which the colorant sheet that has been imagewise supplied with thermal energy by the recording device is peeled for transfer to form a monochromatic image on the image-receiving material. This procedure of monochromatic image formation is repeated for three or four colors to produce a full color image.

  • Patent number: 5578824
Abstract: A donor sheet having at least a thin image-forming film on a support is brought into a superposed relationship with an image-receiving material having an image-receiving layer provided on a support either directly or with at least one cushion layer interposed in such a way that the thin film faces the image-receiving layer, and thermal energy is applied imagewise onto the donor sheet, which is then peeled from the image-receiving material to form an image on the latter. Donor sheets having a plurality of peelable thin films are combined selectively with different image-forming materials to insure that at least operations selected from among color image formation, mask image formation, platemaking and filter preparation are possible.

  • Patent number: 5210657
Abstract: A first optical attenuation filter is arranged in a predetermined optical path and attenuates light to be attenuated with a first variable attenuation amount. A second optical attenuation filter is arranged in the predetermined optical path and attenuates, with a second variable attenuation amount, the light which has been transmitted through the first optical attenuation filter. The first and second optical attenuation filters can be driven in the forward and reverse directions and each has an attenuation amount characteristic which changes monotonously in both the forward and reverse directions. An attenuation amount setting section sets a desired attenuation amount to the light to be attenuated. First and second drivers are coupled to drive the first and second optical attenuation filters in the forward and reverse directions, respectively.
