  • Patent number: 5165813
Abstract: A container for extending a stick-shaped material comprises a tubular body and a chuck formed on the tubular body inserted into a chuck ring. The tubular body and the chuck ring are provided with first and second deflectable projecting parts respectively, while a head member is provided with first and second retaining holes the first deflectable projections of the tubular body engage the first retaining holes, while the second deflectable projecting parts of the chuck ring engage the second retaining holes of the head member. A resilient elastic body is mounted between the end of the head member and an elastic body bearing formed on the tubular body. A stick-shaped material such as a stick-shaped eraser is held in the head member and the chuck. The tubular member, the chuck ring, the stick-shaped material and the elastic body are assembled as a unit with the head member. Therefore, the number of parts is reduced and assembly and disassembly becomes relatively easy.

  • Patent number: 5062727
Abstract: This invention is to a writing tool such as mechanical pencil or a ballpoint pen in which a writing shaft having a head member is inserted in an outer sleeve in such a manner that the head member projects from the outer sleeve. A stair or step and a spiral groove are providd on the forward inner surface and the rearward inner surface of a tubular cap, respectively with an inside diameter of the rear part of the spiral groove being larger. A bearing part is brought into contact with a lead tank provided inside a forward art of the tubular part so that the forward part of the outer sleeve is movable in the axial direction and is locked in the turning direction against a rearward inner surface of the outer sleeve. The rearward part of the tubular body is provided with a slit, holding pieces of a stick-shaped object holder slidably inserted in said slit. • Patent number: 5056947
Abstract: In a writing utensil according to the present invention, when a rearward outer cylinder is rotated in either direction, a cam engaging projection, which is integral with the rearward outer cylinder, slides pressingly on either of the respective cam surfaces of first and second sliders. This causes one of the first and second sliders to advance, which in turn causes a first of the first and second refills to project forwardly while the other remains retracted. Similarly, when the rearward outer cylinder is rotated in the opposite direction, the cam engaging projection slides pressingly on the other of the cam surfaces of the first and second sliders. This causes advancement of the other of the sliders, and in turn causes the second of the first and second refills to be projected while the first remains retracted. The construction allows these operations to be smoothly, stably and positively performed.

  • Patent number: 4955739
Abstract: A mechanical pencil is disclosed in which lead can be advanced in one of two ways; either automatically upon release of writing pressure on the pencil, or selectively manually by pressing inwardly against a side push button. The pencil includes an outer cylinder with a side pushing hole formed therein, and a side push button movably disposed in the side pushing hole. The side push button contacts a lever which is totally mounted within the outer cylinder and which contacts a lead advanced mechanism. Upon pressing in of the side push button, the lever is pivoted about its axis and caused to press downwardly against the lead advance mechanism to thereby cause advancement of a lead. Advancement of lead is also performed upon release of writing pressure of the pencil by way of a slider mechanism which is biased outwardly by way of a resilient member and which is forced outwardly by the resilient member upon release of writing pressure.

  • Patent number: 4896982
Abstract: A lead feed mechanism for a mechanical pencil, in which a lead protruded by a certain length from a lead protection pipe housed in a bottom member attached at the bottom of the pencil is fed together with the pipe, and which comprises a lead chuck which is split in plural parts along the axis of the pencil and whose bottom sections pinch the lead on its outside circumferential surface. A sleeve contains the lead chuck so as to urge the lead chuck upwards by an elastic member. The sleeve includes an engaging portion provided on the inside circumferential surface of the top portion of the sleeve and engaged with an engaging portion provided on the outside circumferential surface of a bottom bearer for a lead pipe in which a spare lead is housed. A frame is provided around the sleeve which is fitted on the bottom with a pushing member which bears by the open top of the frame an elastic member provided between the bottom bearer and the frame.
