  • Publication number: 20050000474
Abstract: Oil jets are mounted in upper two cylinders in a cylinder block of a 4-cylinder vertical engine to inject an oil to rear faces of pistons received in the two cylinders. Thus, although lower pistons are cooled more effectively by the oil dropped by gravitation through oil return bores provided in journal support walls, the upper pistons are forcibly cooled by the oil injected from the oil jets, so that the four pistons can be cooled equally to prevent insufficient cooling and excessive cooling, while minimizing the required amount of the oil.

  • Patent number: 6598566
Abstract: In a water-cooled outboard marine engine, a heat transfer portion is provided in an exit passage located between an outlet end of a cylinder water jacket and a cooling water outlet passage at a position upstream of the thermostat valve. Thus, when the thermostat valve has opened and the cooling water expelled from the water jacket via the thermostat valve has been replaced by freshly introduced cooling water, the heat transfer portion having a certain heat capacity warms the freshly introduced cooling water so that the rapid change in the cooling water temperature at the thermostat valve and the resulting hunting of the thermostat valve can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 6526269
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a transceiver, capable of receiving radio signals in a radio communication apparatus, and capable of receiving one to two channels for regional information such as weather from a large number of channels. The transceiver comprises a radio communication section and a weather broadcast receiving section. A channel of radio communication and a weather reception are selected by a channel switch, and a selecting section selects radio channel signal reception or weather channel signal reception by use of a control signal sent from a CPU of a control section. If the weather reception is selected and weather channel frequency data is stored in a memory, the weather channel reception can be carried out. If no weather channel frequencies are stored therein, a weather frequency band is scanned to detect weather channel frequencies, and detected frequencies are temporarily stored in the memory and can be used until the power supply is turned off.

  • Patent number: 6460330
Abstract: In an engine intake A/F ratio control system in an outboard engine system, a secondary air passage (P) for supplying secondary air for regulating the A/F ratio of an air-fuel mixture is connected to a carburetor (33) in an intake system of an engine (E), and a duty control valve (68) is connected to the secondary air passage (P). A duty control unit (92) is connected to the duty control valve (68) for controlling the duty ratio of a pulse applied to a coil (76) of the duty control valve (68), and an LAF sensor (94) is mounted to an exhaust system for detecting an A/F ratio of an exhaust gas to input a detection signal proportional to the A/F ratio of the exhaust gas to the duty control unit (92).
