  • Patent number: 5540560
Abstract: A compressor including a rotation detecting device for detecting the rotation of the compressor to stop the compressor in an emergency. The rotation detecting device comprises a fastening bolt fastening the casing sections together, a rotatable member supported by a drive shaft, and a magnetic sensor arranged outside the casing around the head of the fastening bolt. A magnetic flux is guided from a magnetic clutch to the rotatable member or provided by permanent magnets on the rotatable member. The rotatable member has a notch or a projection for producing periodically changing a magnetic flux which passes through the fastening bolt and is detected by the magnetic sensor.

  • Patent number: 5380165
Abstract: A reciprocating-piston-type refrigerant compressor provided with a cylinder block having formed therein a plurality of cylinder bores in which a plurality of pistons are reciprocated to effect suction, compression and discharge of refrigerant gas in response to rotation of a drive shaft, a rotary valve element connected to the drive shaft to be rotated together with the drive shaft within a recessed chamber formed in the cylinder block, the valve element having a suction passageway for sequentially introducing the refrigerant gas before compression of the plurality of cylinder bores during the rotation of the rotary valve element, gas receiving grooves formed in the inner wall of the recessed chamber for receiving a part of the compressed refrigerant gas leaking from respective cylinder bores in the phase of the compressing and discharging operations into a contacting area between the inner wall of the recessed chamber and the rotary valve element, and a gas routing passageway formed in the rotary valve eleme

  • Patent number: 5368449
Abstract: A plurality of pistons are provided in the associated cylinder bores arranged around the rotary shaft. Each piston reciprocates in relation to the rotation of the rotary shaft to execute suction, compression and discharge of the refrigerant gas. A valve chamber is disposed in the vicinity of the cylinder bore. A plurality of ports are arranged to communicate the valve chamber to the associated cylinder bores. The valve chamber has a rotary valve which rotates in relation to the reciprocating motion of the pistons. A suction passage is formed in the rotary valve to be sequentially communicated with each port in synchronism with the rotation of the rotary valve in order to introduce the refrigerant gas into each cylinder bore. A seal zone is included in the rotary valve, which sequentially blocks each port in synchronism with the rotation of the rotary valve. A groove is defined in the rotary valve, which is capable of guiding the refrigerant gas entering between the valve chamber and the rotary valve.

  • Patent number: 5342178
Abstract: A coolant gas guiding mechanism in a compressor is disclosed. A plurality of pistons reciprocate within corresponding cylinder bores that are formed around the rotary shaft, inside a casing. Each piston defines a working chamber in the corresponding cylinder bore. A rotary valve is provided coaxially with a rotary shaft. The rotary shaft has a suction chamber, an inlet through which the coolant gas is sucked in from external coolant circuit, and an outlet which communicates with a selected one of the working chambers in synchrony with the reciprocating movement of the piston, for supplying the coolant gas to the working chamber.

  • Patent number: 5318410
Abstract: An improved wobble plate type variable displacement compressor compressing the refrigerant gas with pistons and discharges the gas from a discharge chamber is disclosed. The piston stroke is adjusted according to the tilt angle of the wobble plate which is varied by the magnitude of the inner pressure of the crank case. The first passage connects a suction chamber to the crank case for transferring the pressure of the crank case to the suction chamber. The second passage connects the crank case to the discharge chamber for transferring the pressure of the discharge chamber to the crank case via a restriction when the difference between the pressures and within the discharge chamber and the crank case is in excess of the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5205718
Abstract: A variable displacement swash plate type compressor comprises a suction chamber, a discharge chamber and a crank chamber. A flow rate control valve mechanism is provided along a refrigerant supply passage, which connects the discharge chamber to the crank chamber. The flow rate control valve mechanism is provided with a discharge pressure chamber and an intermediate chamber. A valve hole is provided between the discharge pressure chamber and the intermediate chamber, to permit both chambers to communicate with each other. A pressure sensitive member is provided in the intermediate chamber to separate the intermediate chamber into a first and a second pressure sensitive chambers. The first pressure sensitive chamber communicates with the discharge pressure chamber via the valve hole. The second pressure sensitive chamber communicates with either the crank chamber or the suction chamber.
