  • Publication number: 20020132535
Abstract: A watercraft has a compact construction and a water tight engine compartment. The air inside the engine compartment becomes warm due the radiating engine heat. This warming of the induction air reduces combustion efficiency, lower engine performance. An induction air cooling arrangement is provided to cool the air inside the engine compartment without using excess engine compartment space and not restricting induction airflow. The cooler provides the engine with cooler, denser air in order to improve combustion, therefore raising engine performance.

  • Patent number: 6375527
Abstract: A personal watercraft has an improved ventilation system for an engine compartment. The ventilation system is disclosed in the context of both two-cycle and four-cycle engines. The system includes a plurality of ducts that are strategically positioned on the watercraft. One of the ducts extends through a sidewall of a pedestal that carries an operator seat. Another of the ducts extends through a bottom plate connecting the seat to the hull. The ducts are configured to create airflow across various engine and exhaust system components. For instance, a portion of an exhaust system is interposed between two ends of two separate ducts in one arrangement. In another arrangement, a duct draws or forces air past a portion of the exhaust system. The portion of the exhaust system can include a catalyst. The system also creates a flow of air across a cylinder head in one arrangement and a lubricant reservoir in another arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6171158
Abstract: A water inlet tap for an engine cooling system is provided on a jet propulsion unit of a small watercraft. The inlet tap includes a filter element arranged at the inlet of the tap so as to lie generally flush with in inner surface of the jet propulsion unit. In this position, the principal flow of water through the jet propulsion unit tends to sweep away debris at the inlet of the tap in order inhibit fouling of the filter. The filter, as well as the tap itself, are removably attached to one side of the jet propulsion unit for easy servicing.

  • Patent number: 6062179
Abstract: A method and device for increasing the amount of fuel to an engine during acceleration is provided. A secondary source of fuel in addition to a first source of fuel is introduced into the engine during acceleration. The secondary source of fuel is introduced through a secondary fuel delivery line which is opened by a valve actuated in response to throttle control movement. • Patent number: 5818407
Abstract: The structure of pixel electrode constituting a pixel element of a liquid-crystal display device employing the capacitively coupling driving method and driving method for the device are described. The field of view angle at the main viewing direction is increased and the grayscale graduation reversal is eliminated through a procedure of sequentially increasing or decreasing, at each scanning busline, the value of compensating potential at a time when a potential being applied to the gate terminal of the switching element shifts from ON potential to OFF potential, to be applied on an adjacent scanning busline to which the storage capacitance is formed, by setting each of the values of storage capacitance ratio and parasitic capacitance ratio different through making each of the values of storage capacitance and parasitic capacitance formed between the plural pixel electrodes and respective switching elements within one pixel element different to each other.

  • Patent number: 5239957
Abstract: A number of embodiments of lubricating systems for small watercraft that might become inverted and wherein a lubricant reservoir supplies lubricant under gravity to a lubricant pump when the water pump is operating in a normal upright condition. An air return line extends from the lubricant pump back to the reservoir to pump air which may enter the lubricant pump back to the reservoir. Arrangements are provided for insuring that air cannot flow from the lubricant reservoir to the lubricant pump through the supply line when the watercraft is inverted and also for precluding lubricant pressure in the air return line from acting to force air back to the lubricant pump when the watercraft is inverted.

  • Patent number: 5162932
Abstract: In a method of driving a liquid crystal matrix panel, the number of shifts of a voltage applied to each signal electrode from an ON level to an OFF level and vice versa is minimized in variation so that variation in the polarity inversion (or frequency) of a (driving) voltage applied to a corresponding pixel can be controlled. Accordingly, the disturbing effect of electrode resistance and liquid crystal capacitance can be reduced and thus, the uniformity of display will be ensured.

  • Patent number: 5095377
Abstract: In a method of driving a liquid crystal matrix panel, a group of voltage pulses are applied to each pixel connected to a scanning line during a reset period prior to a selection period so as to reset the state of each pixel before writing data. When the voltage pulse group contains a voltage pulse having a voltage whose absolute value is at least equal an absolute value of a threshold voltage of the liquid crystal, the group also contains, before or after the voltage pulse, a voltage pulse having a voltage whose absolute value is smaller than the absolute value of the threshold voltage and whose polarity is opposite to that of the former voltage pulse.

  • Patent number: 4901066
Abstract: In a method of driving an optical modulation device via scanning lines and signal lines a "selection period" of each scanning line is divided into at least four division periods. A voltage applied to a pixel allows the pixel to become a first stable state of bistable states of the pixel during third and second division periods from the last division period, and to either become a second stable state of the bistable states or hold the first state during the last division period. The scanning lines are scanned sequentially while at least two sequential scanning lines thereof may be applied with a same selection voltage at the same time, thereby reducing a time required for rewriting all pixels.
