Abstract: A coating composition contains as essential components one or more antifoulants and copolymer obtained from monomers mixture comprising monomer A represented by formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 each is a group selected from alkyl groups and aryl groups and may be the same or different, and X is an acryloyloxy group, a methacryloyloxy group, a maleinoyloxy group, or a fumaroyloxy group and monomer B represented by formula (2):Y--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --R.sup.4 (2)wherein R.sup.4 is an alkyl group or an aryl group, Y is an acryloyloxy group, a methacryloyloxy group, a maleinoyloxy group, or a fumaroyloxy group, and n is an integer of 1 to 25.

Abstract: As an object and a use of an undersea antifouling treating composition provided by the invention, in order to prevent the adhesion of sessile organisms over a long period of time, the antifouling treating composition is immersed in fish nets for culturing, trapping and the like immersed in sea for a long time and materials such as rope and the like supporting these nets, a net for preventing invasion of jellyfishes at an intake port for cooling water, a curtain for the prevention of marine pollution used in seaside working and the like.

Abstract: An antifouling paint is described, that contains as its essential components an antifoulant and a polymer of one or more of the monomers A represented by general formula (1) and/or copolymer composed of one or more of the monomers A and one or mroe vinyl polymerizable monomers B that are copolymerizable with said monomer A: ##STR1## wherein X is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; n is an integer of 2 to 4; and m signifies the average degree of polymerization and is zero or a real number. The antifouling paint may contain a slipping agent as the third essential component to provide an even greater fouling resistance.

Abstract: Paint compositions to be used for preventing deposition of organisms on marine structures or fishingnets used in the sea contain, as a vehicle, polymers obtained by polymerizing at least one of the unsaturated acid ester monomers shown by the general formulaR.sub.1 OOC--CX.dbd.CY--COOR.sub.2wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkyl groups having 1-4 carbon atoms, and X and Y are hydrogen, alkyl groups having 1 or 2 carbon atoms or halogen, or copolymerizing the unsaturated acid ester monomers having the above described formula with unsaturated monomers copolymerizable therewith. The coating film of the paint compositions has a high strength and a moderate solubility in sea water and exhibits a very high antifouling activity for a long period of time.
