    Abstract: An optical disc drive includes: an optical head with an actuator and a photodetector; a tracking driver outputting a drive signal to the actuator; a first tracking error signal generator for generating a first tracking error signal based on an output signal of the photodetector; first and second lens position control sections for respectively outputting first and second lens position control signals to the tracking driver; and a selector for selectively supplying the first tracking error signal to the first or second lens position control section according to a moving velocity of the optical head during a seek operation. The first lens position control signal is obtained by extracting signal components, of which the frequencies are equal to or lower than a predetermined frequency, from the first tracking error signal. The second lens position control signal is obtained by extracting DC components of the first tracking error signal at on-track points thereof.

    Abstract: An optical disc drive includes: a motor for rotating an optical disc thereon; a photoelectric transducer for converting a light beam, reflected from or transmitted through the disc, into an electric signal; a clock sync signal reader for extracting and outputting a read signal, representing a clock synchronization mark, from the electric signal; a clock generator for generating a clock signal having a variable frequency; a phase locking controller for controlling the clock generator to synchronize the clock signal in phase with the output signal of the clock sync signal reader; and a mechanism for displacing a light beam spot toward a target track on the disc. During a seek operation of displacing the light beam spot toward the target track, the clock generator is controlled to obtain a frequency to be expected on the target track and output a clock signal having the expected frequency.

    Abstract: A type of disc is judged at high reliability irrespective of a presence of information record or magnitude of disc eccentricity. A reproduction apparatus judges the type of an optical disc to reproduce information recorded on tracks of the optical disc. The disc is classified as a type of read-only optical discs whose tracks are formed with pits and as a type of recordable optical discs whose tracks are formed with wobbling grooves. The apparatus includes a motor which rotates the optical disc, a head which irradiates the tracks of the optical disc rotated by the motor with an optical beam and outputs two detection signals corresponding to reflected light from the optical disc, and a controller which judges the type of the optical disc according to changes of a period of a specific signal contained in a push-pull signal generated from the two detection signals by varying a rotating speed of the motor.

    Abstract: In order to achieve a processor that does not require processing time for branching processing and is ensured the flexibility of the processing content, an adder adds a start address stored in start address parts and selected by a selector and a stored content (relative address) of a program counter to output a current execution instruction address. An execution unit executes an instruction of the address of a program storing part. A comparator compares the address with an end address stored in end address storing parts and selected by a selector. When the addresses are matched, the selectors are switched, and the program counter is reset, so that branching can be performed without requiring an instruction cycle. The start address storing parts are rewritten by a supervisory processor, where appropriate.

    Abstract: A seat slide apparatus includes: a lock plate axially attached to a side surface of an upper rail of which a portion near a base portion is axially attached in a freely rotatable manner; a lock hole formed in a lower portion close to a free end of the lock plate; and a lock spring engaging the lock hole with a lock tooth of a lower rail by using an urging force. In the construction, the engagement of the lock hole with a lock tooth prevents a seat main body mounted to the upper rail from moving in a longitudinal direction and canceling the engagement makes the seat main body freely move in the longitudinal direction. A lock plate guiding long hole is formed in the upper rail. A lock spring locking means is provided on the lock plate at a portion corresponding to the lock plate guiding long hole in such a manner that the lock spring locking means is inserted into the lock plate guiding long hole and projects from the lock plate guiding long hole so as to lock the lock spring.

    Abstract: An apparatus for outputting a tracking error signal based on the time change in the intensity distribution of a laser beam diffracted by the data pits is provided for an optical reproduction system using an optical record carrier on which data is recorded with a high recording density. The photodetector is divided orthogonally into four parts, and boost filters having identical characteristics are disposed for the output signal of one pair of diagonally located photodetector elements and for the output signal of the other pair of diagonally located photodetector elements. The detection gain of the short mark reproduction signal can thus be increased above the detection gain of the long mark reproduction signal to prevent the loss of short marks and improve the S/N ratio of the tracking error signal.
