  • Patent number: 4202285
Abstract: A presser foot adapted to be attached to a sewing machine for sewing a concealed type of sliding clasp fastener to a garment fabric or the like, the foot having in its sole or bottom surface a pair of spaced guide grooves. A substantially V-shaped partition is disposed longitudinally centrally of the foot and separates the guide grooves. This partition has an integral projection extending downwardly to register with the bottom surface of the foot and laterally beyond both sides of the partition whereby the folded edge of the concealed fastener is retained in unfolded disposition at the initial stage of sewing operation.

  • Patent number: 4193172
Abstract: An ornamental attachment for being mounted on a slider pull tab for a slide fastener comprises a body having a pair of upper and lower plates between which is defined a channel for receiving therein the slider pull tab, there being means in the channel for locking the pull tab upon full insertion thereof into the channel. An elongate land and a pair of grooves one on each side of the land are provided on at least one of the upper and lower plates, the land being resiliently engageable flatwise with the pull tab for its positional stability in the channel against wobbling movement. The upper and lower plates include a pair of resilient lips between which the pull tab is insertable into the channel, one of the lips having a pair of retainer means for holding the inserted pull tab therebetween against sideways displacement in the channel. Such retainer means may be on a pair of spacers interconnecting the upper and lower plates, the retainer means projecting into the channel toward one another.

  • Patent number: 4048699
Abstract: A slider for a slide fastener is assembled essentially with a slider body, a pull tab, a cap-like yoke and means for locking the slider against movement along a pair of rows of fastener elements. The slider body has an upper shield with a pair of first engaging means provided at its front and rear ends, respectively. The upper shield has a plurality of longitudinally extending grooves formed therein. The yoke has a pair of second engaging means at its front and rear end walls and has separated longitudinal bottom edges. The first engaging means interengage with the second engaging means and the lower edges of the yoke are fitted in the groove in the upper shield. The yoke has a projecting surface disposed for engagement with a concaved surface of the upper shield, both surfaces being fused together by ultrasonic welding to provide a rugged slider construction.

  • Patent number: 4023241
Abstract: A slide fastener having at its top end a slider escape mechanism which comprises a cooperative pair of yieldable top stops, and an extra length of fastener elements carried on one of the stringer tapes, such that the slider can be forced past the yieldable top stops to ride onto the extra fastener elements in an emergency and hence to release the other stringer tape. To permit ready withdrawal of the said other stringer tape from the slider, a reinforcing sheet of thermoplastic material or the like is heat-sealed or otherwise attached to its upper end portion, from which at least the bead of the tape is removed. The fastener can be forced open from its top end without pulling the slider down along the rows of interlocking fastener elements.
