  • Patent number: 9475435
Abstract: A vehicle exterior component includes a honeycomb structure having an inner plate portion arranged in the vicinity of an engine compartment, an outer plate portion arranged at an outer side of the inner plate portion, and a honeycomb portion held between the plate portions. The honeycomb portion includes a plurality of partition walls and a plurality of cells, which are separated from one another by the partition walls. Each of the partition walls of each cell has communication holes, to allow communication between the engine compartment and the interior space of the cell. Each partition wall has an absorbing portion. When external force acting inward is applied to the partition wall, the absorbing portion absorbs energy produced by the external force through deformation of the partition wall at positions corresponding to the peripheries of the communication holes, of the partition wall.

  • Patent number: 7178809
Abstract: A roof weather strip for use in a convertible car is composed of a plurality of weather strip pieces corresponding to the folding of a sliding roof thereof. When the sliding roof is unfolded to form a roof of the convertible car, longitudinal end parts of adjacent roof weather strip pieces contact each other to define a continuously extending roof weather strip for sealing a side edge of the sliding roof. Each of the weather strip pieces has a base portion, a tubular door glass-sealing portion, and a sliding roof-sealing portion. In each of the longitudinal end parts, the sliding roof-sealing portion is formed tubular, and the tubular sliding roof-sealing portion and the tubular door glass-sealing portion are closed with end faces, respectively, which are provided in each of the longitudinal end parts.

  • Publication number: 20050208232
Abstract: A weather strip includes an extruded portion and a molded portion. The molded portion is formed integrally with the end of the extruded portion. A method of manufacturing the weather strip includes removing at least one part of the end of a tubular seal portion of the extruded portion to form a thin wall portion, setting the end of the extruded portion and a core in a mold apparatus, and closing a movable mold of the mold apparatus in order to define a cavity. The cavity includes space corresponding to the removed part of the extruded portion. Further, the method includes filling a rubber-like material into the cavity to form the molded portion.
