  • Patent number: 5678590
Abstract: A fuel cutoff valve capable of preventing a sudden rise in the internal pressure of the fuel tank during charging of fuel into the fuel tank and capable of controlling the rise in the internal pressure in stages, thereby making it possible to smoothly charge the fuel to a full tank. The fuel cutoff valve includes of a float accommodated in a case having air holes, a valve element disposed on top of the float so as to close an air efflux channel, and a spring for assisting a valve-closing movement of the float. The valve element is formed of rubber, and includes a base portion attached to an upper portion of the float and a disk-shaped seal portion capable of being brought into pressure contact with an entire peripheral edge of the air efflux channel, air holes being formed in the seal portion.

  • Patent number: 5640993
Abstract: A fuel vapor recovery control valve device, for controlling the discharge of fuel vapor from a fuel tank having a fuel filler port, includes a housing; a first valve assembly, which is moved up and down by a diaphragm which divides the space in the housing into an upper chamber and a lower chamber; and a second valve assembly provided in the lower chamber. The diaphragm is of double operation film structure including a central node portion, and an intermediate node portion between the central node portion and its outer peripheral portion. A cylindrical partition wall, which is abutted against the central node portion of the diaphragm, divides the upper chamber into an upper inside chamber, which is communicated with a first vapor flow-in port of the housing, and an upper outside chamber, which is communicated through a signal port with the fuel filter port. Thus, the first vapor flow-in port can be sealingly closed by the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 5632296
Abstract: The float valve of the invention comprises: a case 11, float 15, valve 16 capable of closing a efflux channel 18 of air A, and ball 17 for supporting a motion of closing the float 15. A through-hole 13a for communicating air provided on the side wall 13 of the case is open at a position, the level of which is the same as that of a fuel level LF in the fuel tank in the case of appropriately filling up the fuel tank with fuel. A float body 15a of the float 15 is disposed on a plate portion 12a on the bottom wall 12 of the case at a position higher than a through-hole 13a on the side wall 13 of the case. Thereby, air can be positively discharged from the fuel tank until the fuel level reaches a position at which the fuel tank is filled up with fuel in the case of refueling, so that fuel can be smoothly fed into the fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 5598870
Abstract: A fuel tank device for a vehicle having a fuel tank, the device including a float valve mounted within the fuel tank, and a diaphragm valve connected to an air outflow passage of the float valve. The float valve includes a casing, and a float received in a float chamber in the casing for vertical movement for opening and closing the air outflow passage in a top wall of the casing in accordance with a change of a fuel liquid level in the fuel tank. The casing includes a removable bottom portion having a through hole.

  • Patent number: 5598872
Abstract: A check valve which opens and closes a flow path according to pressure differences includes a valve body having a thin annular portion which is flexible in a direction towards an annular seat of a valve body seal member, to close the flow path when seated on the annular seat. A valve body supporting member allows the thin annular portion to bend thereby defining a space between a periphery of the thin annular portion and the seat. A spring applies its elastic force to the valve body so that the valve body is seated on the seat closing the flow path, and a part of the thin annular portion corresponding to a predetermined range of central angles of the annular seat is bent-off the annular seat earlier than the other portions thereof when a pressure greater than the elastic force of the spring is applied to the valve body. Thus, the valve is prevented from being vibrated slightly and accordingly from producing noise when operated.

  • Patent number: 5582198
Abstract: A fuel shut-off device in which easier assembly and improved air-tight sealing can be achieved. A partition wall plate is ultrasonically welded to a fixing steplike portion of a case body to form an air-tight bidirectional valve chamber comprising the partition wall plate and the case body. The bidirectional valve chamber accommodates a bidirectional valve composed of a positive pressure valve mechanism and a negative pressure valve mechanism. A negative pressure valve member of the negative pressure valve mechanism and a negative pressure spring are formed into an integral structure with a positive pressure valve member of the positive pressure valve mechanism. The positive pressure valve member is formed into an integral structure with the partition wall plate by the engagement of an engaging ring-shaped member of a valve receiving member and an engaging arc-shaped member of the partition wall plate.

  • Patent number: 5577526
Abstract: A float valve for a fuel tank, which comprises an upper float chamber, a middle chamber, and a lower float chamber housed in a case that is fixed to the upper wall of a fuel tank. The upper float chamber includes a first communication hole that directly communicates with an air bleed duct. The upper float that can block that first communication hole when the tank is full. The middle chamber includes a third communication hole communicating with the lower float chamber which has a first air hole located at a position corresponding to the desired fuel level for a full tank. The lower float chamber includes a lower float than can block the third communication hole, and a second air hole which is located bellow the lower float. Because the air passages and float activation allow air to be vented as the fuel level rises in the tank fueling proceeds smoothly and drastic increases in internal pressure, that will stop fueling prematurely can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 5529086
Abstract: A float valve for use in a fuel tank, having a float for regulating air flow out of an air outflow channel provided in an upper portion of the fuel tank. An air flow deflecting portion provided on the float prevents the float from being lifted as air and fuel vapors displaced when the fuel tank is filled-up escape the tank. When the fuel level in the tank rises to a filled-up position, the outflow of air is stopped by the float.

  • Patent number: 5497800
Abstract: In a fuel vapor processing device for transferring fuel vapor from a fuel tank to a canister when fuel is fed into the fuel tank through a fuel fill pipe or when the pressure in the fuel tank is raised to a predetermined value, a pressure given through the fuel fill pipe is applied to one side of a first diaphragm valve body forming a first diaphragm valve while a pressure given through a fuel tank passageway is applied to the other side thereof, so that, when the pressure in the fuel tank passageway is increased while fuel is being supplied into the fuel tank, a first communicating hole is opened; and the atmospheric pressure is applied to one side of a second diaphragm valve body forming a second diaphragm valve while a pressure given through the fuel tank passageway is applied to the other side, so that when the pressure in the fuel tank becomes higher than the atmospheric pressure by a predetermined value a second communicating hole is opened.

  • Patent number: 5402818
Abstract: In a first valve mechanism 30, a positive pressure spring 31 presses a first valve plug 34 to seat an external ring projection 37 of the first valve plug 34 onto a bottom surface 39 of a support cylinder 35. The first valve mechanism 30 opens at a first valve-opening pressure P1 responsive to a pressure balance across the positive pressure regulating valve plug 34. In a safety valve mechanism 60, the same spring (the positive pressure spring 31) presses a safety valve plug 61 via the external ring projection 37 seated on the bottom surface 39 to seat a sealing ring projection 62 of the safety valve plug 61 onto an upper face 63 of a partition wall 28. The safety valve mechanism 60 opens at a second valve-opening pressure P2 responsive to a pressure balance across the safety valve plug 61.
