  • Patent number: 8514808
Abstract: A media-independent handover (MIH) environment supports a MIH function that uses a mapping table to communicate with other MIH functions using a MIH transport protocol. The MIH function updates the mapping table upon receipt of a message having fields to invoke an operation. The operation can update an existing mapping or delete a mapping. The operation also can update a lifetime value for a mapping for a particular address. The mapping table includes mappings. A mapping includes a MIH function identifier, a list of transport addresses, and a lifetime value.

  • Publication number: 20130194573
Abstract: In an optical sensor, a light emission system emits an irradiated light of a linear polarization in a first polarization direction toward a surface of a target object having a sheet shape from an incident direction which is inclined with respect to a normal direction of the surface. A first light detection system includes a first light detector arranged on a first light path of a specular reflected light, which is emitted from the light emission system and is specularly reflected from the target object. A second light detection system includes a second light detector arranged on a second light path of a diffuse reflected light which is diffusely reflected from an incident plane on the target object. The second light detector receives second light passed by an optical element which passes a linear polarization component of a second polarization direction perpendicular to the first polarization direction.

  • Patent number: 8215664
Abstract: A vehicle air bag device may include an air bag having an integrally formed inflator insertion portion 4 into which an inflator 5 for discharging a gas is inserted. A bracket that is formed to attach the inflator to a vehicle body includes an inflator side mounting portion 8 mounted onto an outer side of the inflator insertion portion so as to partially cover the inflator insertion portion partially. A strip-form body 10 is disposed over and attaches the bracket, the inflator insertion portion, and the inflator such that the strip-form body. The strip-form body and the inflation insertion portion are displaced from each other by a step formed by the bracket, thereby forming a gap disposed between the strip-form body and said inflation insertion portion. • Patent number: 8160021
Abstract: A system for media independent handover using a session identifier in which a session identifier is used for identifying a media independent handover registration session across different MIH transport instances between a pair of communicating MIHFs. A point of service maintains a single registration state for a mobile node across the multiple transport instances. A session identifier is assigned by a point of service at the time of initial registration, and is valid only during the lifetime of the registration. A registration state includes local handles to transport instances that are used when sending and receiving media independent handover messages related to the registration.

  • Publication number: 20120020204
Abstract: A system and method for network selection procedures for simultaneous network connectivity through multiple accesses comprises obtaining stored and registered PLMNs, determining whether PLMNs are both stored PLMN for access technology type Ai and registered PLMN, when no PLMNs are both, performing PLMN selection using a standard procedure, when only one PLMN is both, determining whether the PLMN satisfies a condition, and when the PLMN satisfies the condition, attempting to connect to the PLMN, and when more than one PLMN is both, creating a set of PLMNs, selecting one PLMN that satisfies the condition, from the set PLMN, attempting to connect to the selected PLMN, and when attempting to connect fails, removing the selected PLMN from the set, and selecting another PLMN. In one aspect, the PLMN that minimizes changes is selected. In one aspect, the PLMN that provides access to a larger number of access technologies is selected.

  • Patent number: 8068460
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of buffering packets for the mobile node at an access router or network node near the edge of the network that the mobile is moving away from or towards. The buffered packets are then forwarded to the mobile node once the handoff process is completed. This invention also relates to the use of buffering packets originating from the mobile node during the handoff process. The buffered packets are then forwarded to their intended destinations once the handoff process is completed. The buffering system is used in conjunction with existing mobility protocols, access protocols, or as an independent network or link layer mechanism.
