    Abstract: A light tire body using thick cords is disclosed. The tire body comprises a bias-structured carcass composed of rubberized plies each including thick organic fiber cords. The rubber between the carcass plies has a thickness corresponding to hm/ho.ltoreq.0.5 where hm is an average rubber gauge between the plies at a center position in a widthwise direction of tire and ho is a diameter of the thick cord, and is prepared from a compounding recipe of at least one rubber ingredient selected from natural rubber and diene rubbers, a softener, an organic vulcanization accelerator and sulfur as well as at least 30 wt.% of carbon black having an average iodine adsorption value of 40-90 mg/g and an average DBP absorption value of 60-140 ml/100 g, and has a dynamic modulus of elasticity E' at 100.degree. C. under 2% elongation given by E'.gtoreq.6.0.times.10.sup.7 dyne/cm.sup.2, a dynamic loss angle tan.delta. given by tan.delta..ltoreq.0.095 and a tensile strength of not less than 100 kg/cm.sup.

    Abstract: A device for narrowing the breadth of a sheet spring material in an apparatus for manufacturing a taper leaf spring by which the sheet spring is previously subjected to breadth narrowing operation with edge rollers before taper rolling.A shape for narrowing the breadth of a sheet spring material is calculated so that a product after rolling may be within the tolerance. Then, a shape of template thus obtained is detected by a pair of detecting rollers to regulate the interval between the work rollers automatically before taper rolling.

    Abstract: A noiseless lug tire which runs at a high speed under a heavy load and which satisfies the following conditions.(1) A ratio Wg/Wl is equal to or smaller than 1.0.(2) Each transverse groove for delimiting lugs is not inclined toward an opening of the transverse groove at the kickout side of each lug.(3) Each transverse groove is inclined toward the opening at the stepin side of each lug at an angle of at most 22.degree..(4) Each portion of a center line of the transverse groove in a substantially total region of a length L of the transverse groove is inclined with respect to the meridian line of the tire at an angle within a range from at most 15.degree. measured in a direction opposite to the inclination direction of the transverse groove as a whole to at most 60.degree. measured in the same direction as the inclination direction of the transverse groove as a whole.

    Abstract: In an apparatus for manufacturing a taper leaf spring, by which after performing rolling on the edges of a sheet spring material in the direction of its breadth, rolling for tapering the sheet in the direction of its thickness is carried out, an edge roll assembly is employed for the sake of rolling in the breadth direction. In the edge roll assembly, constraining flanges for regulating the sheet thickness are provided on both ends of the main body of the edge roll so that expansion of both sides of a sheet spring material in the sheet thickness direction due to the effect of rolling in the sheet breadth direction is suppressed by the flanges and the thickness of a sheet spring material is kept uniform as a whole prior to performing rolling in the sheet thickness direction.

    Abstract: A process of manufacturing a taper leaf spring by which rollers for measuring the length and the thickness are respectively disposed on the take-out side of a material plate for a taper leaf spring relative to a pair of rolling rollers, and also rollers for measuring the breadth are disposed on the same take-out side; rolling for regulating the breadth is beforehand performed by a pair of edge rollers on the take-in side of the material plate relative to the pair of rolling rollers; the distance of the interval between both rolling rollers is adjusted by comparing signals coming from the rollers for measuring the length and the thickness with the standard signals based on the predetermined specifications of the length and the thickness; the regulation of the breadth by means of the pair of edge rollers is controlled by comparing the signal from the breadth measuring rollers with the standard signal based on the predetermined specification; so that the material plate is rolled to a taper as desired.
