  • Patent number: 7219947
Abstract: A sun visor for a vehicle is provided that can prevent an extendable plate from being removed from the sun visor body. In a sun visor for a vehicle in which an extendable plate (40) is mounted within a sun visor body (20) such that the extendable plate can be drawn out, a removal-preventing member (55) protruding in an inclined configuration is formed on one side surface of the extendable plate. Conversely, a removal preventing recess (52) is formed within the sun visor body (22) for engaging with a tip end portion of the removal-preventing member and for preventing the extendable plate from being removed. A recess wall surface on one side of the removal-preventing recess is formed as an inclined surface (53) for guiding the tip end portion of the removal-preventing member in a wedging direction into the removal-preventing recess.

Abstract: A blocking device for mounting within a space defined within a hollow structure includes a blocking member and a fixing device. The blocking member may be disposed on one side of a wall portion extending within the space. The blocking member has an expandable member and a holder for holding the expandable member. The expandable member is expandable by heat to form a foam member. The fixing device has a fixing member that may be disposed on the other side of the wall portion within the space. The fixing device also has a connecting member that may extend through an insertion hole formed in the wall portion. The connecting member connects the blocking member to the fixing member.

  • Patent number: 6450561
Abstract: Attachment devices (10) may include a base portion (22) comprising a base body (25) and an upper flat surface (25a). A holder portion (21) may extend from a first end of a first arched attachment part (31) and may include a base plate (24) having an upper flat surface (24a) extending substantially perpendicularly from the first attachment part (31). A first end of a second arched attachment part (32) may extend from the upper flat surface (25a). Further, a second end of the first arched attachment part (31) may be flexibly joined and folded relative to a second end of the second arched attachment part (32) at a hinge portion (11). In the folded state, the holder portion (21) may be disposed within a space defined within the base portion (22).

  • Publication number: 20020017799
Abstract: Attachment devices (10) may be utilized to attaching an accessory member (1) to a panel (40). Means (30) may be provided for elastically engaging a mounting hole (41) formed in the panel (40) when the apparatus (10) is disposed within the mounting hole (41). Further, means (20) may be provided for manipulating engaging means (30). Preferably, the manipulating means (30) can be actuated to disengage the engaging means (30) from the mounting hole (41). The manipulating means (20) may further include a holder means (23) adapted to receive a sun visor retainer portion (1a). More preferably, the engaging means (30) may include a first attachment part (31) and a second attachment part (32). The first and second attachment parts (31, 32) are preferably elastically connected to each other, such that the first and second attachment parts (31, 32) can be deformed relative to each other by operating the manipulating means (20).

  • Patent number: 6247287
Abstract: A structure for closing a cavity of a hollow structural member and for reinforcing the hollow structural member. The structure includes a reinforcement member comprising a plurality of reinforcement plates arranged in a spaced relationship. The reinforcement plates being interconnected to form at least one receiving space therebetween. The reinforcement member being disposed in the cavity in such a way that the reinforcement plates are substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hollow structural member. At least one foamable member is received in the at least one receiving space of the reinforcement member. The foamable member being adapted to close the cavity and to secure the reinforcement member in the cavity when expanded by external heating.

  • Patent number: 5829482
Abstract: A method of plugging up a coating material introduction aperture formed on a hollow structural member, the hollow structural member being coated with a coating material through dip coating and then heated to bake the coating material coated thereon, which includes the steps of providing a plug having a coating material introduction passage and formed of a foamable material which is foamable by heat at the time the hollow structural member is heated to bake the coating material coated thereon, inserting the plug as unfoamed into the coating material introduction aperture before the hollow structural member is coated with the coating material through the dip coating, and heating the plug to produce a foamed product so as to plug up the coating material introduction aperture. The step of heating the plug is performed by heat which is applied to the hollow structural member for baking the coating material coated thereon.

  • Patent number: 5806915
Abstract: A support structure for supporting a foamable material in a cavity of a hollow structural member so that the foamable material blocks the cavity of the hollow structural member when it is foamed by external heating. The support structure includes a support member disposed in the cavity so as to be perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the cavity and adapted to retain the foamable material in such a manner that at least one side surface of the foamable material is restrictively covered by the support member, and an engagement pin integrally provided on the support member and adapted to engage an aperture formed in the hollow structural member.

Abstract: A support structure for supporting a foamable material in a cavity of a hollow structural member so that the foamable material blocks the cavity of the hollow structural member when it is foamed by external heating. The support structure includes a support member including a main body which has an external dimension smaller than the dimension of a transverse cross section of the cavity, a foamable material receiving wall provided on the main body, and a restriction flange extending from at least one of the main body and the foamable material receiving wall. The support member is disposed in the cavity in such a manner that the restriction flange is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the cavity. The foamable material has a substantially annular configuration and is profiled substantially to conform to the configuration of the transverse cross section of the cavity. The foamable material is arranged along the foamable material receiving wall of the support member.

  • Patent number: 5631027
Abstract: A support structure including a foamable material located in a cavity of a hollow structural member for blocking the cavity of the hollow structural member when it is foamed by external heating, and a support member for supporting the foamable material. The foamable material has a plate-like shape and has an external dimension smaller than the dimension of the cross section of the cavity. The support member is disposed in the cavity and mounted on the hollow structural member by a mounting device. The support member is constituted of a pair of support plates for supporting both side surfaces of the foamable material and a desired number of connecting pieces located along a lower periphery of the support plates for integrally connecting the support plates. The support plates are adapted to be elastically spread and narrowed about the connecting pieces and being directed to an exterior surface of the hollow structural member at an upper periphery thereof.
