A plurality of image capturing devices capture images including objects reflected by a curved mirror from predetermined angles. Image units included in a captured image are analyzed; and a distance for an object included in the captured images is determined according to the analyzing result.

Abstract: A hinge device features improved ease of installation/removal of covers thereof to/from mounting bases thereof. The hinge device, which has mounting bases and knuckles, is connected such that it swings on a hinge pin inserted in the knuckles. The covers conceal mounting screws of the mounting bases. Each of the mounting bases has recesses formed in a side surface on a non-supporting side, grooves which are formed in a side surface adjacent to both ends in the axial direction of the hinge pin and which extend to a side surface, and an engaged portion concavely formed in each of the groove. The inner side of the cover has engaging portions which are inserted in the groove and which detachably engages with the engaged portion when the cover is installed, and also has protruding streaks which enter into and engage with the recesses.

The charge-controlling semiconductor integrated circuit controls the substratum voltage switching circuit based on an output of the voltage comparison circuit, and the voltage comparison circuit includes an intentional offset in a first potential direction. A level shift circuit to shift the output voltage to a potential direction opposite to the first potential direction is provided in a preceding stage of a first input terminal of the voltage comparison circuit, and the input voltage is input to a second input terminal of the voltage comparison circuit.

Abstract: An operating method in a heat pump hot water supply system of an indirect heating method by which an average COP during a water heating period can be improved and a risk of running out of hot water can be prevented from increasing. For a heat pump hot water supply system of the indirect heating method, a change in heat transfer efficiency of a second heat exchanger is estimated by using either or both of a tank water temperature and a temperature of a second refrigerant flowing through a water circuit. When the heat transfer efficiency is determined to be high, an operation switching unit raises an output of a heat source device. When the heat transfer efficiency is determined to be low, the operation switching unit lowers the output of the heat source device.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a printing apparatus, in which an extension board for PDL processing is added, capable of reducing a waiting time when returning from the power-saving mode upon reception of PDL data. To realize this, upon receiving PDL data before the extension board is ready for use, the apparatus processes the data by using the PDL processing module on the main board. After initializing the extension board, the apparatus uses the added PDL processing module together with that on the main board. Processing the data in this manner makes it possible to start printing the PDL data without consuming a long wait time.

Abstract: In a heat pump apparatus, it is aimed to enhance efficiency of a defrost operation by reducing a loss of heat radiation during the defrost operation and reducing a compressor input during the defrost operation. The heat pump apparatus includes a main refrigerant circuit in which a compressor, a first heat exchanger, an expansion mechanism, and a second heat exchanger are connected sequentially, and also includes a bypass circuit including an on-off valve and providing a connection by bypassing the expansion mechanism. The main refrigerant circuit includes a four-way valve that switches between a heating operation and the defrost operation by switching an order in which the refrigerant circulates through the main refrigerant circuit. The main refrigerant circuit also includes a first temperature detection unit and a second temperature detection unit. Based on values detected by these temperature detection units, a degree of superheat of the first heat exchanger during the defrost operation is computed.
