  • Patent number: 7140380
Abstract: A cell according to the present invention comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an electrolyte solution, and an outer casing, wherein the outer casing comprises a valve plate 30 having a thickness, an annular-shaped break groove 4 formed on the valve plate, and one or more of break aiding grooves 1 in the inner area of the break groove, and wherein the break aiding groove comprises such configurations that remaining thickness of the valve plate at the break aiding groove is thicker than remaining thickness of the valve plate at the break groove, and at least one end of the break aiding groove is connected with the break groove. In a cell provided with a valve plate which is a safety valve 9 comprising the break groove and the break aiding groove, the safety valve operates smoothly and releases a gas inside the cell quickly, and resistance to dropping impact is improved.

  • Publication number: 20060019158
Abstract: To provide a battery with low internal resistance and high efficiency in which connection points to a collector plate are evenly distributed on the electrode plate and the number of the connection points is increasable, a battery according to the present invention includes a positive and negative collector plates respectively connected to end surfaces of an electrode assembly. The collector plate, connected to a positive electrode plate, includes a connection area connecting to an edge of the positive electrode plate, and a lead area extended from an outer edge of the connection area. Flange structures, by which the positive and negative electrode plates are connected, are included in the connection area. The flange structures include a ring-shaped flange structure, a linear flange structure, and semi-ring shaped flange structure and semi ring-shaped inner flange structure respectively formed on outer and inner edges of the connection area.

  • Patent number: 4783383
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sealed type battery provided with a safety valve and a method of manufacturing the same, the sealed type battery of the present invention has a mouth-sealing plate, provided with the safety valve, serving as a terminal of one polarity, being arranged through an insulating member in a hole of a metallic cover closing an opened portion of an exterior can serving as a terminal of the other polarity, and an extension of a hole edge of the metallic cover being cramped to the insulating member to fix said mouth-sealing plate, whereby the cramping diameter can be reduced in comparison with that of the conventional battery, and as a result, the high hermeticity can be given to the battery and the electrolyte can be completely prevented from leaking.
