The developer storage box is detachably mounted on the developing unit and has a volume substantially the same as a volume of the developer which can be accommodated in the developer case of the developing unit. First and second screw conveyors are disposed in the housing for conveying the developer in an axial direction opposite to each other. Each of these conveyors has an axial length larger than an axial length of the developing rollers. A partition wall is disposed between the first and second screw conveyors. A toner container for accommodating a toner is mounted on the housing. The toner in the toner container is supplied into the housing and agitators agitate the toner in the housing.

    Abstract: A multicolor electrostatic recording apparatus in which two or more different color toner image are superimposed by respective electrostatic recording units. Each of the electrostatic recording units includes an electrostatic latent image carrier, a developer for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the carrier with a color toner, and a detector for detecting the density of the developed image on the basis of a detecting mark which is formed on the carrier as a part of the latent image and developed by the developer. A discriminating means compares the density data with an optional desired density value to discriminate whether the density data falls in an allowable range. A controller feed-back controls at least one of parameters for determining the density of the developed image so that the density becomes to be in the allowable range, when the density falls out of the allowable range.

The toner particles are entrained by the roller surface to form a developer layer therearound and are carried to the drum surface for the development of an electrostatic latent image formed thereon, and a blade member is engaged with the roller for regulating a thickness of the developer layer. A voltage is supplied to the roller to electrostatically move the toner particles from the roller to the latent image, and a voltage is applied to the blade member to inject an electrical charge to the developer layer. When an operation of the device is started, a supply of the voltages to the roller and blade member is carried out after the roller is rotated.

    Abstract: A toner image transfer type recording apparatus having a cleaning unit for removing residual contaminants from the surface of a rotating recording drum after toner image transfer. The cleaning unit includes a blade which engages the surface of the drum, a rotatable cleaning cylinder disposed immediately upstream from the blade, and a housing structure surrounding the blade and the rotatable brush. The housing is evacuated by an air pump connected thereto, causing external air to be introduced through an opening of the housing to facilitate removal of the contaminants from the housing. The rotatable cleaning cylinder continuously removes larger particles of contaminants which are accumulated at the cleaning edge of the blade while the smaller particles of contaminants serve to lubricate the area between the cleaning blade and the surface of the recording drum.
