Patent number: 6005617Abstract: Using a common area sensor to build a high resolution electronic camera requires a large sensor chip with an incumbent high cost. Using a line sensor results in slow imaging and therefore limited applications. An electronic camera using a small sensor chip with high speed imaging is therefore provided. A two-dimensional imaging device that is narrower than an area sensor subscans the imaging plane of the lens system by means of a scanning device. The charge transfer register of the two-dimensional imaging device is driven by an X clock generator in the opposite direction and at the same speed as the subscanning speed, thereby achieving TDI operation and high speed image capturing.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1997Date of Patent: December 21, 1999Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takeshi Shimamoto, Yoshihiro Yokoyama

Patent number: 5901254Abstract: The present invention provides an image reducing system and method capable of retaining fine lines in a reduced image by reducing an original image and by quickly forming the reduced image with high quality. The method includes specifying positions of pixels of a reduced image in the original image according to reduction ratios, extracting a run of pieces of the same color information about the color of the pixels of the original image as a line, determining the line width of the extracted line and determining the line width after reduction in the reduction ratios based on the line width of the extracted line and calculating the centroid of the extracted line, and retaining the color information about the extracted line at a reduced pixel near the centroid on the basis of the centroid of the extracted line and the line width after reduction. The method further performs the step of determining the color information about each reduced pixel based on the retained color information.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1997Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroaki Iguchi, Yasuo Kurosu, Yoshihiro Yokoyama, Hiroshi Abei, Masaaki Fujinawa

Patent number: 5590317Abstract: A document information compression and retrieval system which reduces the document data amount and shortens the retrieval time when mass document information is registered and retrieved. A method of registering document information in a document information retrieval system which stores document information consisting of a large number of characters for retrieval of the stored document information. Entered document information is separated into words. Whether or not each of the words is a word to which a compressed code is assigned is determined. Patent number: 5181260Abstract: Method for determining and correcting the amount of an skew of image which may be read by an image reader, preferably one with with an automatic paper feeding device. Information dependent on the angle of skew of image is obtained in a plurality of the directions with respect to image data and the amount of skew is determined based on the information obtained. Measurement of the information is performed in two or more stages (or steps). At the first stage, the measurement is performed within a narrow range of angles including a reference direction. If no skew angle is detected in the narrow range, then the measurement is performed again at the second stage in a wider range of angles. If a skew angle is detected in the first stage, the second stage is omitted. With the skew angle determined, the image data is rotated in accordance with the skew angle detected to cancel the skew. No correction of the image data is performed if skew angle detection does not result in either the first or the second stage.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1990Date of Patent: January 19, 1993Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yasuo Kurosu, Yoshihiro Yokoyama, Kenichi Nishikawa, Hidefumi Masuzaki, Masaaki Fujinawa

Patent number: 5034733Abstract: An image data rotating apparatus has an n.times.n dot matrix memory which temporarily stores n.times.n dots of image data supplied from a first image data memory. A row/column selector selects one row or column of the n.times.n dot matrix memory in response to a rotation indicating signal, which selects an integer times 90.degree. as a rotating degree, for example, 0.degree., 90.degree., 180.degree., 270.degree. or the like. The n dots of image data stored in the selected row or colum are re-written by outputting the stored data into a second image data memory, and by inputting another n dots of image data from the first image data memory in the same cycle, and with the repeating of this cycle, all the n.times.n dots of image data stored in the n.times.n dot matrix memory are re-written so that the rotated image data can be retrieved from the second image data memory.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1988Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Koichi Okazawa, Yasuo Kurosu, Yoshihiro Yokoyama, Nobuaki Izuno, Tamon Masimo

Patent number: 4943857Abstract: A video signal and a horizontal synchronizing signal provided from a work station are delayed by a plurality of delay circuits having different delay amounts, and phase differences between a sampling clock signal and the delayed signals are detected. A clock generator generates two kinds of clock pulses having opposite phases and the same frequency. A clock selector selects one of the clock pulses as a sampling pulse signal in response to the phase differences. Further, a phase difference between the horizontal synchronizing signal and the video signal is detected so that the phase difference between the horizontal synchronizing signal and the video signal is maintained constant.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1988Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Nobuaki Izuno, Yasuo Kurosu, Koichi Okazawa, Yoshihiro Yokoyama, Kensuke Ooyu
