  • Patent number: 8774651
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit that forms an image to be formed on a recording medium. The image formed by the image forming unit has a size larger than a size of the recording medium that is transported, the image forming unit causing the image to adhere to the entire area of the recording medium. A width of the image in a direction substantially orthogonal to a transporting direction of the recording medium increases from a front end toward a rear end of the recording medium in the transporting direction of the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 8554120
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a transfer member onto a front side of which an image is transferred, a rotary member around which the transfer member is wrapped, a guide member provided at an end portion of an axial direction of the rotary member, a regulating member, a first reference mark, a second reference mark, a first detector, a second detector, and a controller. The regulating member is located on a reverse side of the transfer member, and restricts skew of the transfer member by contacting the guide member. The first and second reference marks are on edge sides of the transfer member in the axial direction of the rotary member. The first and second detectors detect the first and second reference marks, respectively. The controller controls alignment of the image on the transfer member in accordance with a detection result of the first and second detectors.

  • Publication number: 20130189001
Abstract: An intermediate transfer device includes an intermediate transfer member, intermediate transfer member support members, and two frame members each including first and second positioning members each having a positioning portion. At least one of the frame members satisfies a condition L1:L2=2.85:x 0?x?1, where L1 is the length of a line segment connecting an intersection point to the positioning portion of one of the positioning members on a side opposite to a side toward which a line of action of a force applied by a second-transfer unit is inclined and L2 is the length of a line segment connecting the intersection point to the positioning portion of the other of the positioning members on the side toward which the line of action is inclined, the intersection point being an intersection of the line of action and a line segment connecting the positioning portions.

  • Publication number: 20130058671
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image holding member, a transfer unit, a current detector, and a constant voltage controller. A toner image is held on the image holding member. The transfer unit transfers the toner image held on the image holding member onto a recording medium. The current detector detects a transfer current passed to the transfer unit. When images are to be successively formed on recording media, the constant voltage controller performs constant voltage control on a transfer voltage to be applied to the transfer unit when a first image is to be formed, and performs constant voltage control on a transfer voltage to be applied to the transfer unit when a second image is to be formed, using a voltage value corresponding to a current value detected by the current detector when the first image is to be formed.

  • Publication number: 20130039673
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image holding member, a transfer unit, a fixing unit, a transport unit, a transfer-performance-detection toner image forming unit, a density detection unit, and a selector. A toner image is held on the image holding member. The transfer unit transfers the toner image onto a recording medium. The fixing unit fixes the toner image onto the recording medium. The transport unit reverses the recording medium onto which the toner image has been fixed, and transports the reversed recording medium back to the transfer unit. The transfer-performance-detection toner image forming unit forms plural transfer-performance-detection toner images with different transfer settings of the transfer unit. The density detection unit detects densities of plural transfer-performance-detection toner images. The selector selects a transfer setting of the transfer unit in accordance with a detection result obtained by the density detection unit.
