  • Patent number: 5982978
Abstract: Special reproduction data from a special reproduction data generating circuit is applied to a special reproduction data arranging circuit. A frame-change flag that changes for unit of frame and a positional sequence signal that is initialized by the frame-change flag and is incremented in unit of special data of a special reproduction data position are supplied to the special reproduction data arranging circuit. The special reproduction data arranging circuit arranges dummy data instead of the next frame data on the subsequent special reproduction data positions when a frame is changed so that a positional sequence signal is not initialized more than twice in one repetitive recording area. Thus, it becomes possible to rearrange data using a positional sequence signal in the reproduction.

  • Patent number: 5923812
Abstract: A data packet recording apparatus according to a first aspect of the present invention is comprised of: a trick play packet generator for generating trick play data by extracting one or plural types of prescribed date packets from an input data packet train comprising plural types of time-division multiplexed data in a prescribed number or packets based on an identification signal inserted for every packet and outputting a trick play data packet train by packetizing the generated trick play data; an identification table packet inserter for separating and retaining an identification table packet contained in the input data packet train for discriminating the identification signal and outputting the identification table packet into the trick play data packet train several times; and a recording circuit which is capable of recording the output of the identification table packet inserting means in trick play data recording areas at specified track positions.

  • Patent number: 5889918
Abstract: A digital picture image signal recording method, in which by sequentially forming tracks on a tape recording medium running at a prescribed speed oblique to its running direction digital picture image signals compressed by a high efficiency encoding technique are recorded using rotary heads and at the same time, and then plural kinds of tracking pilot signals with different frequencies on adjacent tracks are recorded, the method comprises the steps of deriving data which are essential to decoding the recorded digital picture image signals from the high efficiency encoded digital signals, successively establishing record areas in unit of a number of tracks equivalent to a cycle period of the tracking pilot signals that can be distinguished by the pilot signal as one group, and recording data which are essential to the decoding in the recording areas.

  • Patent number: 5812734
Abstract: A transmitted signal is supplied to a transmission rate information extraction circuit, where information on the transmission rate is extracted. A recording mode setup circuit sets a recording mode based on the transmission rate and a mode designated by a user. An additional data modification circuit sets a recording rate of an additional data according to the recording mode. Then, a transmitted signal/recorded signal conversion circuit assigns a part or all of the recording rate of the additional data to a recording rate of data for normal playback to lengthen recording time of the data for normal playback. By means of this, recording efficiency increases.

  • Patent number: 5648960
Abstract: A recording/reproducing apparatus for a data packet stream having an extractor for extracting data packets of a selected type from an input packet train in which different types of data packets have been time-division multiplexed together. The apparatus also has a recording circuit for recording the extracted data packets, and a reproducing circuit for reproducing the recorded extracted data packets. A dummy packet producer, which produces dummy packets that correspond to data packets that have not been extracted, is also provided. Further, the apparatus has an output circuit that outputs an output data packet train. The output data packet train is produced by combining the reproduced extracted data packets and the dummy packets in accordance with the order in which the different types of data packets are positioned within the input packet train.

  • Patent number: 5404248
Abstract: A video data recording/reproducing apparatus is designed to effect the high density recording for low bit rate coded data, correct the error with high reliability and reproduce only the main signal. For this purpose, an error correction circuit corrects the error in a transmission path by use of a parity code added by a parity adding circuit on the transmission side. A switch selects one of outputs of the parity adding circuit and error correction circuit according to whether the parity code is contained in the transmission data or not. A recording/reproducing circuit causes an output of the switch to be recorded. At the time of reproducing operation, the error correction circuit corrects the error in the recording/reproducing operation by use of the parity code contained in the reproduced signal.

  • Patent number: 5196848
Abstract: A code modulation system wherein an 8-bit input is converted to a 14-bit code by creating modulated data code tables and associating a given 8-bit input with a particular table based on the Digital Sum Variation value, the Non-Return to Zero Inverted waveform polarity, and the end-bit value of the preceding 14-bit modulated code.

  • Patent number: 4875017
Abstract: In a digital FM demodulating apparatus of this invention, an input video signal is converted into a predetermined digital FM signal, e.g., Asin.theta. by a recording signal processor and supplied from an input terminal to a phase shift circuit. The phase shift circuit divides digital FM signal Asin.theta. into digital FM signals Asin.theta..sub.2 and Acos.theta..sub.2 phase-shifted from each other through 90.degree. and outputs the signals directly to an operational circuit. The digital FM signal Asin.theta. is converted into digital FM signals A'sin.theta..sub.1 and A'cos.theta..sub.1 delayed from signals Asin.theta..sub.2 and Acos.theta..sub.2 by predetermined periods by registers and supplied to the operational circuit. The operational circuit calculates signals Asin.theta..sub.2, Acos.theta..sub.2, A'sin.theta..sub.1 and A'cos.theta..sub.1. A result of tan.sup.-1 conversion of an output from the calculator performed by a ROM having a tan.sup.
