  • Patent number: 9162003
Abstract: The invention relates to an air purification device for a vehicle and has an object to provide a DOR (Direct Ozone Reduction) system that can improve durability of activated carbon as an ozone purifier. FIG. 3 is a partially enlarged view of a fin of FIG. 2. FIG. 3(a) is a partial enlarged view of the fin in a front side, and FIG. 3(b) is a partially enlarged view of the fin in a rear side. As shown in FIGS. 3(a) and 3(b), in a louver, a coat amount of activated carbon is adjusted so as to gradually increase from a front side toward a rear side. Thereby, durability as the radiator can be improved, while oxidation degradation of the activated carbon by active oxygen is allowed to some degree.

  • Patent number: 9061081
Abstract: An atmosphere-cleaning device equipped on vehicle and provides a DOR (Direct Ozone Reduction) system including an on-vehicle component on which a new ozone purifier is supported and a method for manufacturing same. A radiator has a core part including an ozone purifier with a particle of an activated carbon as its core and an ozone purification catalyst layer as its shell formed by powder plating process. Ozone can diffuse into the layer and the carbon in this order. Ozonolysis reaction with the sub-catalyst can be initiated in advance to ozonolysis reaction with the carbon thereby gas contact probability with the carbon can be relatively reduced and oxidation reaction of the carbon caused by active oxygen can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 9034274
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vehicular air cleaner. A DOR (Direct Ozone Reduction) system for suppressing deterioration of a purifying function of an ozone purifying material is provided. Active oxygen is produced by an ozone purifying function of activated carbon. The probability that the active oxygen contacts with a fin of a radiator on a rear surface side is higher than that on a front surface side of the radiator. Accordingly, the activated carbon on the rear surface side of the radiator is easily oxidized as compared with the activated carbon on the front surface side. Therefore, in the fin, a coating amount of the activated carbon on the front surface side of the radiator is adjusted to be larger than a coating amount of the activated carbon on the rear surface side. Thus, the probability that the active oxygen contacts with the activated carbon can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20150007731
Abstract: A vehicular atmosphere purifying apparatus diagnoses deterioration in the performance of an ozone purifier. In a routine, when it is determined that there is a deterioration diagnosis request, the amount of moisture that has already accumulated at ozone purification sites of activated charcoal at the time of the request is calculated. If the accumulated moisture amount is equal to or greater than a predetermined amount, it is determined whether the state is such that calculation of a desorbed moisture amount is possible. If it is determined that calculation of the desorbed moisture amount is possible, the desorbed moisture amount is calculated, and the calculated desorbed moisture amount and a deterioration determination value are compared. If the desorbed moisture amount is less than the deterioration determination value, it is determined that the activated charcoal has deteriorated, and an MIL is lit.

  • Patent number: 8812219
Abstract: The present invention provides a control apparatus used in an internal combustion engine that can switchably use a compressed natural gas and gasoline. The control apparatus carries out a miss fire check on the internal combustion engine over two or more combustion cycles, and, based on the results of the check, detects failures. The control apparatus prohibits switching of fuels (S23, S24, S28) basically during the miss fire check. If the value of a miss fire counter is not increasing, the control apparatus predicts that a negative check result will not be obtained (S26), and lifts the prohibition on switching of fuels (S29).

  • Publication number: 20140134056
Abstract: A vehicle atmosphere purifying apparatus including an ozone purifying body, in which activated charcoal is coated on a core portion of radiators and a capacitor, respectively. If water adheres to pores of activated charcoal or areas surrounding the pores, ozone becomes hard to enter mesopores and micropores. Even if ozone enters, an electron becomes hard to donate from the activated charcoal to the ozone. Consequently, the performance of the activated charcoal decreases while water is adhered thereto. When an amount of moisture adhered to activated charcoal is equal to or greater than a predetermined amount, moisture desorption control is executed that forcibly heats the activated charcoal to a high temperature to desorb the moisture therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20140037508
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vehicular air cleaner. It is an object to provide a DOR system which can utilize a purifying function of an ozone purifying element containing an activated carbon for a long period of time. As shown in A1 and A2 of FIG. 5, in the activated carbon at an initial state, an ozone purification rate is almost the same at the same wind velocity even when a temperature condition is different, even though the ozone purification rate is changed when the wind velocity is changed. After the endurance test, the ozone purification rate is increased even at the same wind velocity when the temperature becomes high as shown in B1 and B2 of FIG. 5. Thus, the temperature condition difference affects the ozone purification rate more as the deterioration of the activated carbon continues.

  • Publication number: 20140013953
Abstract: The present invention relates to an air purification device for vehicles and the purpose of the present invention is to provide a DOR (Direct Ozone Reduction) system which suppresses deterioration in purifying function of the ozone purifier. Ozone purification rate of activated carbon correlates with probability that gas is contacted with the radiator. Also, wind velocity of the gas passing through a radiator correlates with car speed. Therefore, the ozone purification rate of the activated carbon correlates with the car speed, The grill shutter 22 is controlled in fully open condition when the car speed is within an area faster than Speed A shown in FIG. 6. When the car speed is slower than Speed A, the grill shutter 22 is controlled in closed condition as shown in FIG. 2 (A).
