  • Publication number: 20030046245
Abstract: The operating and other procedures of an optical disk application system of the type for which a network is used are simplified. Optical disks have auxiliary data recording areas, where different IDs for individual disks, and/or cipher keys and/or decoding keys for ciphers are recorded in advance in a factory. By using the IDs to release the soft ciphers, using the cipher keys when sending the ciphers, and using the decoding keys when receiving the ciphers, user authorization procedures are simplified.

  • Patent number: 6466735
Abstract: The car navigation file of the optical disk stores data which is used for navigating the car, and the video title set stores a plurality of video titles concerning facilities located in districts included in the map data. A VOB comprising one scene of a video image of a video title is a filmed shot in high picture quality. The VOB includes a writing command that position information of a position associated with the video information be written in the rewitable area when the predetermined operation is performed during the reproduction of the optical disk. When the disk reproduction apparatus executes the writing command, the position information can be written in the rewritable area. Consequently, the user can easily have the destination written in the optical disk, enjoying the filmed shots.

The optical disk is provided with a control data area and an identifier for indicating the presence or absence of the barcode in the control data area. A beam pattern if focused on a reflective film of the optical disk in an information signal region on which the data is recorded. Information is provided for making the barcode. The information is PE-modulated so that a width of a mark of the barcode is half or less than a period of the barcode marks. The optical disk is rotated to form the barcode.

  • Patent number: 6370325
Abstract: An optical disc recording apparatus for recording a video object onto an optical disc. A recording area of the optical disc is divided into a plurality of zones which each include a plurality of adjacent tracks. The optical disc recording apparatus includes: a reading unit for reading from the optical disc the sector information showing data assignment for sectors on the optical disc; a recording unit for recording the video object onto the optical disc; and a control unit for controlling the reading unit and the recording unit. The control unit detects at least one series of consecutive unassigned sectors on the optical disc by referring to the read sector information. Each series has a total size greater than a minimum size and is located within a single zone. The minimum size corresponds to a data amount that ensures uninterrupted reproduction of the video object. The control unit also controls the recording unit to record the video object into the detected series.
