  • Publication number: 20120232793
Abstract: A navigation system is configured in which a driven distance calculating unit of an on-vehicle device calculates a first driven distance in a predetermined section based on vehicle speed calculated using vehicle speed pulses outputted from a vehicle and a vehicle speed calculation coefficient, a driven distance calculating unit of a portable terminal device calculates a second driven distance of the vehicle in the predetermined section based on GPS information provided from global navigation satellites, a learning unit corrects the vehicle speed calculation coefficient based on the result of comparing the first driven distance with the second driven distance, and a vehicle location predicting unit of the portable terminal device predicts a vehicle location based on the vehicle speed calculated using the vehicle speed pulses and the corrected vehicle speed calculation coefficient.

  • Publication number: 20110213550
Abstract: A data providing apparatus included in a navigation system obtains, from the in-vehicle apparatus, first direction data which represents a direction in which the vehicle heads at a start of providing the navigation data and derives second direction data which represents the direction in which the vehicle heads based on a change of a location of the vehicle after a start of traveling of the vehicle. The data providing apparatus transmits, to the in-vehicle apparatus, the navigation data in accordance with the direction in which the vehicle heads and transmits, to the in-vehicle apparatus, the second direction data which is derived. The in-vehicle apparatus included in the navigation system displays the navigation data which is received from the data providing apparatus, and the in-vehicle apparatus stores, during a stop of working of the in-vehicle apparatus, the second direction data received from the data providing apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20110029239
Abstract: A navigation system is provided. An in-vehicle device is mounted on a vehicle. A data providing apparatus provides data regarding navigation to the in-vehicle device. The data providing apparatus detects current position data of the vehicle, accumulates map image data, cuts the map image data in a display size of the in-vehicle device, and separately transmits the detected current position data and the cut map image data to the in-vehicle device. The in-vehicle device receives the current position data and the cut map image data from the data providing apparatus, and superimposes the received current position data and the cut map image data to display a guide image. The current position data is transmitted in a first transmission cycle and the cut map image data is transmitted in a second transmission cycle which is shorter than the first transmission cycle.

  • Publication number: 20100127996
Abstract: To provide an in-vehicle device including a layout-information acquiring unit, a relating unit, a combination display unit, a converting unit, and an output-signal transmitting unit. The layout-information acquiring unit acquires layout information of input keys of the portable terminal device. The relating unit relates each input key included in the layout information to a predetermined area on a touch panel display. The combination display unit causes a layout screen of each input key related to a predetermined area on the touch panel display to be displayed in the touch panel display. The converting unit converts an input to the touch panel display into an output signal corresponding to a pressing operation of the input key or a combination of the output signals, based on the layout information. The output-signal transmitting unit transmits the output signal obtained by conversion to the portable terminal device.

  • Publication number: 20100039224
Abstract: An occupant authentication apparatus is incorporated in a vehicle. The occupant authentication apparatus includes a communication processor, a biometric-data obtaining unit, a matching unit, and an association processor. The biometric-data obtaining unit obtains biometric data of an occupant of the vehicle. The communication processor communicates with a portable terminal device, and receives biometric data held by the portable terminal device. The matching unit matches the biometric data of the occupant obtained by the biometric-data obtaining unit with the biometric data that the communication processor receives from the portable terminal device. When the obtained biometric data matches the received biometric data, the association processor associates the occupant (or a seat position of the occupant), from whom the biometric data is obtained, with the portable terminal device, from which the biometric data is received.
