  • Patent number: 8418256
Abstract: A data storage apparatus is provided that realizes a measure against deterioration of a flash memory in which integrity check data is stored. A content playback apparatus (1000) uses a hash value of playback history information as integrity check data (confirmation data) for confirming whether the playback history information has been falsified. A first address calculation unit (1004) and a second address calculation unit (1006) determine a read-in address and a storage destination address for the integrity check data, with use of the hash value. Accordingly, the storage destination addresses can be diffused, thus enabling preventing deterioration of the flash memory.

  • Patent number: 8296561
Abstract: An authentication system verifies an authentic computer program, certifies the authenticity itself, and verifies a certification. The authentication system includes a terminal (e.g., requesting device) and a card (e.g., verifying device). The card stores secret information to be used by the terminal, and an update program for the terminal. The card verifies authenticity of the terminal using information obtained from the terminal. When it judges that the terminal is authentic, the card outputs the secret information to the terminal. When it judges that the terminal is not authentic, the card outputs the update program. The terminal is forced to update the program when it attempts to use the secret information.

  • Patent number: 8189793
Abstract: A key terminal apparatus includes a crypto-processing LSI that performs predetermined crypto-processing. Unique information identifying the crypto-processing LSI is embedded in the crypto-processing LSI. A predetermined master key corresponding to a predetermined key is embedded in the crypto-processing LSI. The crypto-processing LSI (a) receives an encrypted manufacturer key from the manufacturer key storage unit, (b) decrypts the encrypted manufacturer key using the predetermined master key to generate a manufacturer key, (c) generates a unique manufacturer key identical to the predetermined unique manufacturer key, based on the unique information embedded in the crypto-processing LSI and the generated manufacturer key, and (d) decrypts the received encrypted device key using the generated identical unique manufacturer key to generate a predetermined device key.

  • Patent number: 8135963
Abstract: A program conversion device generates a program by obfuscating an original program, and generates and encrypts conversion parameters for inverse conversion of the obfuscated program. The program conversion device distributes the obfuscated program together with the encrypted conversion parameters. To execute the obfuscated program, a device having a high security level decrypts the encrypted parameters by using a decryption key stored in advance, applies inverse conversion to the obfuscated program by using the decrypted conversion parameters, and executes the program resulting from the inverse conversion. A device having a low security level executes the obfuscated program without any inverse conversion.

  • Patent number: 8065498
Abstract: A content of Copy Once cannot be copied to an external device or the like, even for the purpose of making a backup. This is inconvenient for the user. However, if copying to another device for the purpose of making a backup is permitted, the content may be copied in an unauthorized manner. The present invention provides the hard disk recorder that transmits the content to the backup device, sets an expiration time in the content stored in the hard disk recorder itself, and deletes the content stored in the hard disk recorder itself after the expiration time expires.

  • Patent number: 8060716
Abstract: To aim to provide an information processing device capable of improving a processing capability and securely handling programs and data to be protected. According to a system LSI including a plurality of CPUs, when a CPU-1 switches to a protection mode, the CPU-1 and a CPU-2 are reset. While the CPU-1 operates in the protection mode, only the CPU-1 executes a protection program and the CPU-2 is stopped by continuing outputting a reset signal to the CPU-2.

  • Publication number: 20110202411
Abstract: A control terminal device 100 stores service applications and advertising applications in a storage unit 111. Each service application corresponds to one or more of the advertising applications. Each service application is also associated with a different one of home appliances 103 to 106. A control unit 112 of the control terminal device 100 causes the display device 101 to display the service applications corresponding to the respective home appliances. The control unit 112 also detects one advertising application corresponding to the service application that the user has focused on and clicked on by operating the remote control, by referring to the content stored in the storage unit 111. Then, the control unit 112 causes the display device 101 to output audio of an audio file corresponding to the detected advertising application.

  • Patent number: 7991155
Abstract: To provide a backup management device that deletes a content so as to be restorable in the future while protecting a copyright of the content, in a case where there exists a backup of the content. In an HD recorder, a first information storage unit stores a content, a second information storage unit stores a backup of the content, a secure storage unit stores a hash value of the content. If receiving an instruction to delete the content so as to be restorable, a control unit deletes the content from the first information storage unit. When the content is played back, an encryption processing unit applies a calculation to the content to generate detection information, and the control unit compares the hash value with the detection information to judge whether the content has been tampered.
