  • Patent number: 7712338
Abstract: An inventive electric washing machine is configured so that a gas to be used for performing a specific process (decontamination process) on laundry is prevented from leaking to the outside. In the electric washing machine, a packing (120) to be brought into intimate contact with a door (12) for sealing a gap defined between the door (12) and a peripheral edge of an outer tub opening (118) when the door (12) is closed is opposed to a housing opening (14) with a space (129) defined between a lower edge portion of the housing opening (14) and the packing (120). If the door (12) is closed with laundry protruding through the lower edge portion of the housing opening (14), the protruding laundry is caught between the door (12) and the packing (120), so that the packing (120) is not brought into intimate contact with the door (12).

  • Patent number: 7296444
Abstract: An electric washing machine according to the present invention performs a washing process for washing laundry without the use of a detergent by generating water streams in an outer tub (2) containing an electrolyzed liquid produced through electrolysis by an electrolyzing device (31) when a zero detergent course is selected by a user. The electrolyzing device (31) is provided as a water treatment unit (60) attached to a lower portion of an outer side surface (66) of the outer tub (2), and includes a thin-box-shaped electrolyzing chamber (32), a pair of electrodes (33) supported at opposite edges thereof, and a pair of water communication paths (34, 35). The pair of water communication paths (34, 35) are disposed in a vertically juxtaposed relation to connect the outer tub (2) to the electrolyzing chamber (32) with the intervention of packings (81). Thus, an assembling operation and the like can conveniently be performed, and water can efficiently be electrolyzed for use in the washing process.

  • Publication number: 20060005581
Abstract: A drum type laundry machine according to the invention is capable of efficiently supplying steam to laundry in a drum. When the steam is supplied into the drum 11, a blower 39 is rotated at a higher rotation speed than in a heat drying operation (e.g., 5200 rpm) to provide greater air blowing power. Further, a projection 36 provided in an air passage narrows the air passage, so that an air flow rate is increased in the vicinity of a cooling water supply port 34. Therefore, cooling water supplied into a first air passage 32 is finely disintegrated on air, and supplied to a heater 43 in a heater housing 42 through a second air passage 33 and a blower chamber 40. The cooling water is heated by the heater 43 to be evaporated into steam. The steam thus generated is borne on the air and supplied into the drum 11 from a blowing port 44 through an air inlet port 9f.

  • Patent number: 5499791
Abstract: A machine with vibration source includes a frame for carrying a vibration source such as a motor. A housing is attached to a bottom of the frame, in which a sphere made of a rigid material is housed rotation free in a manner that a portion of the sphere is projected from an opening at the bottom of the housing. The surface of a plate made of a rigid material contacts the portion of the sphere projecting from the housing and the plate is surrounded by a member of an elastic material. The elastic member has an upwardly extending portion which surrounds the housing, and therefore, the elastic member controls the relative position between the sphere and the plate, and resultingly, rolling of the machine can be suppressed. In addition, since the sphere can be rotated on the plate, horizontal vibration of the machine is absorbed to be suppressed. Furthermore, since the sphere is supported by the plate and the plate is supported by a floor via the elastic member, vertical vibration of the machine is also suppressed.

  • Patent number: 5267456
Abstract: A drum-type washing machine includes a horizontal shaft type drum which is rotatably supported by a supporting shaft within a frame and rotated by a motor, and a reduction mechanism transmits a rotation of a rotation shaft of the motor to a rotation shaft of the drum. The reduction mechanism includes a small pulley with gear secured to the rotation shaft of the motor, an intermediate large pulley, a V belt wound on the small pulley with gear and the intermediate large pulley, an intermediate small pulley secured to the intermediate large pulley to be rotated together with the intermediate large pulley, a large pulley secured to the rotation shaft of the drum, and a V belt wound on the intermediate small pulley and the large pulley. In the vicinity of the small pulley with gear, a claw which is normally biased toward a direction that the same is kept away from the gear is arranged. A solenoid or a torque motor engages the claw with a root of the gear against the spring when the drum is to be locked.

  • Patent number: 5115651
Abstract: A drum-type washing machine includes a resin drum which is rotatably supported in a frame by a horizontal shaft. The resin drum includes a body portion molded out of a synthetic resin, and an end surface formed at one end of the body portion, the other end being open. A fluid balancer positioned at the open end of the body portion includes a hollow annular member and a predetermined amount of saltwater sealed therein. The drum diameter is increased from the one end to the other end by utilizing a taper or slope from a plastic molding process. Therefore, the wash in the drum, in operation, moves to the vicinity of the fluid balancer at the other end of the drum along the slope of the inner surface of the drum, thereby to produce a maximum balancing effect of the fluid balancer.

  • Patent number: 5038586
Abstract: A washing machine comprises a drum rotating device, a water supplying device, a draining device, a sensing device for sensing excessive foam generated beyond a permissible amount in an outer tub of the washing machine in the washing operation, and a control device for controlling the drum rotating device, the water supplying device and the draining device. In this washing machine, the sensing device would sense the abnormal foaming in the washing operation and inputs a foam sensing signal to the control device. Then, the control device forces the water supplying device to supply water in the tub and/or the draining device to drain the tub so as to settle the abnormal foaming.
