    Abstract: A vehicle control system includes electronic controllers and first and second communications networks. The electronic controllers control a vehicle including an internal combustion engine and a drive motor. The electronic controllers include a management controller to manage travel control of the vehicle and a motor drive controller to control the drive motor. The first and second communications networks connect the electronic controllers together. The electronic controllers communicate via the first and second communications networks. The motor drive controller is configured to stop the drive motor when it is determined that a fault has occurred in the first communications network and configured to transmit information indicating that the fault has occurred in the first communications network to the management controller via the second communications network.

    Abstract: A vehicle control system includes: multiple control units which controls operation of a vehicle including an internal combustion engine, a first electric motor connected to the internal combustion engine, and a second electric motor; and a network connected to the control units such that the control units perform communication with each other. The control units include a first control unit which controls the internal combustion engine, a second control unit which controls the first motor, and a third control unit which controls the second motor, and each detect abnormality in communication via the network among the control units. Upon detection of abnormality in communication between the second control unit and the other control units via the network, the first control unit stops operation of the internal combustion engine, and the third control unit performs control such that the second motor outputs power for the vehicle to travel.

Two electric motors, specifically first and second electric motors, are temporarily handled integrally to determine a torque down amount (TD), which is the total allowable power variation width (?) of the two electric motors, on the basis of left and right total power (Y), and the respective motive powers of the first and second electric motors are controlled while being limited by values obtained by simply dividing the determined torque down amount (TD) equally, whereby the allowable input/output power (allowable input power (Z)) of the battery is reliably protected.
