Abstract: A magnetic card reader apparatus includes a magnetic data reading unit configured to read magnetic data of a magnetic card, an insertion detecting unit configured to detect an insertion of the magnetic card, and an interval increase/decrease driving unit configured to increase/decrease an interval between the magnetic data reading unit and the magnetic card when the insertion detecting unit detects the insertion of the magnetic card.

Abstract: A portable communication apparatus includes a radio communication unit, a detection unit, a notification unit, and a stop control unit. The radio communication unit performs communication over a radio wave. The detection unit detects a wave, which is other than the radio wave, travels with a frequency in a predetermined area. The notification unit notifies a user of the portable communication apparatus a notification when the detection unit detects the wave. The notification indicates that the portable communication apparatus is present in the predetermined area. The stop control unit stops the radio communication unit from performing a communication function, according to an instruction from the user.
