  • Publication number: 20040210321
Abstract: In an apparatus to be controlled 20 such as a USB-compatible peripheral device connected to a controlling apparatus such as a personal computer, when a specification change is detected such as a change in the apparatus to be controlled 20 itself and a change in the connection situation of an attached device 30 (S201: YES), identification information corresponding to the changed specification is extracted (S205) and the extracted identification information is set as identification information to be transmitted to the controlling apparatus 10 (S206). The identification information having been set is transmitted to the controlling apparatus 10, and the controlling apparatus 10 controls the apparatus to be controlled 20 having the changed specification, on the basis of the identification information.

  • Publication number: 20040013441
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a display device of an image forming apparatus capable of displaying information that the user wants to obtain in a visually easy-to-recognize manner. In a compound image forming apparatus provided with: one of original reading means for reading image information from an original, image receiving means for receiving image information from a terminal connected to a network and a line image receiving means for receiving image information from a telephone line; image forming means for forming an image based on the image information obtained by the means; and a display portion for displaying the condition of the apparatus, a display condition control portion is provided that changes the display condition of the display portion to a visually easy-to-recognize condition when the condition of the compound image forming apparatus is changed.

  • Patent number: 6669320
Abstract: A serial recording apparatus in accordance with the present invention appropriately selects ink nozzles of an ink head and prints on a sheet so that the amount of printing is substantially equal to an ordinary amount, when an inadequate amount of sheet feed occurs, and then, selects the ink nozzles of the ink head in accordance with how the inadequate amount of sheet feed is so as to carry out the next printing. This avoids that the inadequate sheet feedings are accumulated in the succeeding printings. Accordingly, even when a plurality of inadequate sheet feedings occur during the printings with respect to a single sheet, the inadequate sheet feedings are not accumulated, thereby avoiding that the quality of the printing deteriorates. Thus, it is possible to provide a serial recording apparatus which can resolve the inadequate printing by detecting the amount of sheet feed for each feeding, determining the print area in accordance with each amount of sheet feed, and carrying out the printing.
