  • Patent number: 7608119
Abstract: A stainless steel sheet useful as a separator for a low-temperature fuel cell has the surface state that a lot of fine projections (p) stand close together around many fine pits (d) formed over a whole surface. The surface state is realized by alternating electrolytic etching in a ferric chloride solution. When the stainless steel separator is built in a fuel cell, contact resistance between the separator and a graphite electrode is kept at a lower level even in a corrosive atmosphere. Consequently, the fuel cell can be driven with high power-generating efficiency over a long term even under severely corrosive conditions without generation of massive Joule heat.

  • Patent number: 5511358
Abstract: An apparatus for successively securing a plurality of small bags to a first belt-like member via an adhesive layer is provided including a transportation path for transporting the plurality of small bags, one by one, towards said first belt-like member and an attaching apparatus for simultaneously attaching a plurality of small bags on the transportation path to the first belt-like member along the feeding direction of the first belt-like member. The attaching apparatus includes a stopper which stops the small bag in the middle of the transportation path and a pusher which compresses the small bag so stopped to the adhesive layer of the first belt-like member. A plurality of the attaching apparatuses are provided along the transportation path. In one embodiment of the invention, the stopper includes an end plate to block the transportation path, a side plate to pivot the end plate towards the transportation path, and an axis to support the side plate in a rotatable manner.

  • Patent number: 5338333
Abstract: An intermetallic compound such as Nb.sub.3 Al exhibits the phenomenon of self-disintegration, when hydrogen is adsorbed in the intermetallic compound. This self-disintegration is used for the pulverization of the intermetallic compound material. The material is autogeneously pulverized into very fine particles only by adjusting an atmosphere to which the material is exposed, since the pulverizing reaction occurs between hydrogen existent in the atmosphere and the active surface of the intermetallic compound. The pulverized intermetallic compound having irregular shapes and large specific surface area is useful in various technical fields, e.g. as a superconductive material, a heat-resistant material, a magnetic body or a hydrogen-absorbing material.
