  • Patent number: 9051633
Abstract: An aluminum alloy material is welded by performing friction stir welding to form a welded section in an aluminum alloy welded component. The aluminum alloy material contains Mg: 0.3-6.0% (mass %, hereinafter the same), Cu: 0.2% or less, Si: 0.1% or less, Fe: 0.1% or less, the balance being Al and inevitable impurities. Second phase particles dispersed in the aluminum alloy material have a grain size of 5 ?m or less as observed with an optical microscopic. Because the second phase particles are homogeneously dispersed in a welded section equivalent portion of the aluminum alloy welded component as compared to other portions, variations in pit formation caused by etching during anodizing are reduced, thereby eliminating color tone variations in the anodized coating formed on the aluminum alloy welded component.

  • Publication number: 20140023874
Abstract: First and second aluminum alloy materials (2, 3), each comprised of a 5000-series aluminum alloy containing second phase particles having a diameter less than 5 ?m in a distribution density of less than or equal to 10,000 second phase particles/mm2, are welded together by abutting portions of the first and second aluminum alloy materials, and friction stir welding along the abutted portions (5) to form an integrally-welded aluminum alloy panel (1). The friction stir welding is performed using a tool (8) having a shoulder (10) under the following conditions: (i) the shoulder of the tool has a diameter (d) in the range of 3 mm?d?8 mm and (ii) the revolution number (r) of the tool is 6<r?20, wherein r is tool revolutions/length of the weld (4) in millimeters.

  • Publication number: 20080178973
Abstract: A sheet of a 6000 type aluminum alloy containing Si and Mg as main alloy components and having an excellent formability sufficient to allow flat hemming, excellent resistance to denting, and good hardenability during baking a coating, which exhibits an anisotropy of Lankford values of more than 0.4 or the strength ratio for cube orientations of the texture thereof of 20 or more, and exhibits a minimum bend radius of 0.5 mm or less at 180° bending, even when the offset yield strength thereof exceeds 140 MPa through natural aging; and a method for producing the sheet of the aluminum alloy, which includes the steps of subjecting an ingot to a homogenization treatment, cooling to a temperature lower than 350° C. at a cooling rate of 100° C./hr or more, optionally to room temperature, heating again to a temperature of 300 to 500° C. and subjecting it to hot rolling, cold rolling the hot rolled product, and subjecting the cold rolled sheet to a solution treatment at a temperature of 400° C.
