Abstract: A recording/playback apparatus for recording or playing back content is provided. For example, a playback unit plays back a medium on which an encrypted content management unit and an encrypted unit key for encrypting the content management unit are recorded. The encrypted unit key is decrypted according to a predetermined decryption procedure. An obtaining unit obtains subsequently generated or obtained data corresponding to the content data played back by the playback unit and a subsequently generated or obtained data key. A decryption unit decrypts the subsequently generated or obtained data key obtained by the obtaining unit according to the predetermined decryption procedure for decrypting the encrypted unit key to decrypt the subsequently generated or obtained data based on the decrypted subsequently generated or obtained data key.

Abstract: To provide an apparatus, a recording medium and a method for effectively preventing unauthorized use of a content. A content containing broken data different from correct content member data is recorded on an information recording medium. Furthermore, transform data, as the correct member data, to be substituted for the broken data, and a fix-up table storing setting position information of the content are recorded on the information recording medium. During the content playback process, the transform data is substituted for the content member data in accordance with the fix-up table recorded on the information recording medium. With this arrangement, even if the encryption key corresponding to the encrypted content recorded on the information recording medium is leaked, an apparatus unable to acquire the transform data cannot play back the content. Unauthorized use of the content is thus controlled.

Abstract: A configuration is provided which enables usage management and secure data management of data newly generated or obtained that is different from data already stored in an information recording medium. New data such as information which the user has newly generated or downloaded related to content information increments of content management information stored in an information recording medium is recorded as configuration data of the content management unit, in the form of encrypted data to which a unit key corresponding to the content management unit, or a unit key corresponding to a new content management unit, has been applied.
