  • Patent number: 6049654
Abstract: A recording medium playing apparatus allows an arbitrary and easy selection and reproduction of each information piece of a recording medium carrying a plurality of information pieces which variously represent a scene on the same time axis position during reproduction of information. In the recording medium playing apparatus for playing a recording medium on which same-time information groups each formed by a plurality of information pieces of the same time position are recorded, reproducing means for reproducing information of the recording medium reproduces information of the recording medium by arbitrarily selecting each information piece of the recording medium based on a command for reproducing each same-time information group.

  • Patent number: 5394279
Abstract: A method of searching for blanks in a digital tape player with reduced search time by performing the operation of searching for blanks on both sides of an analog recorded tape concurrently. In a digital tape player dedicated to both analog and digital reverse playback, a reverse fixed head component is arranged so that a tape can travel both ways by reversing the fixed head component 1. The head surface of the head component is divided into two tracks and one of the tracks is provided with analog playback head sections 2 and the other track with digital playback head sections 3. In such a digital tape player, analog recorded signals on one of the tracks of the analog recorded tape are being read by the analog playback head sections 2, while analog recorded signals on the other track are being read by the digital playback head sections 3 at the same time, so that blanks on both upper and lower tracks can be searched simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 5355175
Abstract: A video mixing apparatus mixes a graphics video image and a playback video image at a plurality of mixture ratios in one image plane. Fade data indicative of the mixing ratio of at least one line of the playback video signal and the graphics video signal is sequentially generated in accordance with a predetermined order. The fade data is held into holding means and is outputted from the holding means synchronously with a horizontal sync signal. The levels of the playback video signal and the graphics video signal are individually adjusted in accordance with the fade data outputted from the holding means and the adjusted signals are added. The playback video signal and the graphics video signal are mixed at the mixing ratio set every line of one image plane.

  • Patent number: 4992892
Abstract: In a stereo sound digital recording system in which a plurality of tunes or programs are sequentially and digitally recorded on a magnetic tape, the left and right analog input signals are combined and converted to a digital signal. The analog input signals are also applied to a detector which detects the head of the program or tune and which causes to be generated a start identification sub-code signal which is automatically added to the digital signal, before the modulation thereof, and which is recorded on the tape for about nine seconds in the non-sound portion preceding the tune or program. A second sub-code signal, in the form of a program number signal, may also be added to the digital signal, simultaneously with the program start identification sub-code signal, to provide recorded numbers respectively identifying programs which are sequentially recorded on the tape.

  • Patent number: 4962435
Abstract: A data recording method and apparatus for a magnetic recording medium, such as a magnetic tape for an R-DAT, in which the tops of the various music selections recorded on the tape are accurately detected so that reproduction can be started accurately. In one embodiment of the invention, program top detecting codes are recorded on the tape a predetermined time prior to the actual start of the music programs. In another embodiment, the program top detecting codes are recorded at the start of the respective programs. In the latter case, in a high speed search operation to find a desired music piece, when a corresponding program top code is detected, the commencement of reproducing the desired music piece is delayed for a predetermined period of time from the detection of the program top code, so that the reproduction is accurately carried out from the top of the desired music piece.

  • Patent number: 4860129
Abstract: In a signal reproducing device such as an R-DAT video tape recorder, a digital signal recorded on the recording medium is reproduced by the magnetic head, stored in a memory, processed by a processing circuit, and converted into an analog signal by a D/A converter, and a detector detects whether or not the reproduction signal outputted by the head is present so that, according to the output of the detector, a muting circuit mutes the digital-to-analog converted signal and a driver suspends the operation of a level meter adapted to display the level of the digital signal, whereby the production of noise signals and the abnormal display of signal levels are prevented.

  • Patent number: 4839584
Abstract: A signal recording/reproducing apparatus having both bar-type and numeric signal-level displaying units which can be easily read. The apparatus includes a sample-and-hold circuit for sampling and holding an input signal at a first predetermined rate, a first display unit for displaying in bar form the sample values sampled by the sample-and-hold circuit, a data holding circuit for sampling and holding the sample values periodically at a second predetermined rate, and a second display unit for numerically displaying the sample values selected by the data holding circuit. The bar code display can change at a rapid rate to dynamically follow the input signal, while the numeric display changes at a slower rate so as to allow the user sufficient time to comprehend the numerically displayed value.
