  • Patent number: 5539147
Abstract: A guitar pickup structure includes pickup elements which are arranged below the lower surface of a guitar string saddle that is provided on a guitar bridge. The bridge is installed on the top surface of the guitar. Vibrations of the strings are transmitted to the pickup elements through the saddle, for generating amplified sounds by means of the electric signals. Two vibration transmitting bars run through the bridge and the top surface of the guitar body and contact the lower side of the saddle. A pickup member, having two pickup elements which correspond to and engage the two vibration transmitting bars, is arranged beneath the guitar body top surface. • Patent number: 5533405
Abstract: A sound comparison device for a drum that has a body that includes a bottom with a periphery. The periphery of the bottom of the body is in contact with the surface of a drum head. A drum head tension measurement element includes a tip which protrudes from the bottom of the body. A spring biases the tip to press against and sink into the drum head to a distance determined by the tension on the drum head. A display is connected with the measurement element for causing the display to display a numerical value Y which corresponds to distance X of the protrusion of the measurement element. The values X and Y are coordinated so that the display displays the value Y=K/X1/2, where K is a constant.

  • Patent number: 5419650
Abstract: A pipe fastening device including a split sleeve main tubular body with an upper and a lower internal tapered surface. A lower fixing member at the end of the pipe having a frusto-conically shaped body matching the lower tapered inner surface of the tubular body. An upper movable member also having a frusto-conically shaped body matching the upper inner tapered surface at the top of the tubular body. A bolt from an installation member passes through the fixing member and is fixed in the movable member so that tightening of the bolt draws the movable member toward the fixing member. The tapered surfaces cause the tubular body sleeve to expand for securing the tubular body in the pipe. The fixing member and the movable member have protuberant parts received in the groove of the split sleeve tubular body.

  • Patent number: 5408913
Abstract: A support leg for a musical instrument bass drum including a base on the drum body having an annular gear surface, a leg pivotally supported to the base at the center of the gear surface, and gearing on the leg for meshing with the gear surface on the base for preventing swinging of the leg with respect to the base. A spring urges the base and leg apart to permit the leg to pivot. A bolt is tightened to move the gear surface and gearing into meshing. Cooperating stoppers on the base and the leg establish the use and nonuse swing positions of the leg with reference to the base. The support leg includes a main body and a leg that expands or contracts with reference to the body and a clamp for clamping the leg at a selected expanded position. A display on the main body displays the expanded position of the leg with respect to the body.

  • Patent number: 5396823
Abstract: A guitar belly for a guitar body including a rear or reverse plate and a side plate around and standing up from the rear plate, which are integrally formed of the same plastic material. A separate cover plate is attached over the edge of the side plate to close the guitar belly. Reinforcing ribs are integrally formed of the same material as and along with the reverse plate. These include two or three longitudinal ribs extending from at or near the top front end of the reverse plate to the bottom end thereof, two horizontal ribs, one at the narrower width part and one at the greater width part of the belly, and two oblique ribs, each extending obliquely from the center of the belly and toward the one end of the belly and respectively outward from the center of the belly in opposite directions. Some or all of the ribs also extend up the side wall of the guitar belly. The ribs cooperate to prevent distortion of the belly due to string tension or other causes including playing the guitar.

  • Patent number: 5388494
Abstract: A drum beater includes a support with the beater rotary shaft on the support. A swingable beater attached to the beater rotary shaft is adjustable in position around that shaft for establishing the swing distance between the beater and the drum head. An operating member on the shaft is connected to the drum pedal such that operation of the drum pedal rotates the shaft. A beater shaft restoring cam is attached to a spring which is increasingly tensioned as the drum pedal is operated and which returns the cam and the beater shaft to a return position when the pedal is released. The cam is adjustably positionable in orientation around the beater rotary shaft.

  • Patent number: 5379674
Abstract: A foot pedal for a drum beater having a pivotable pedal connected by a strap like link member or chain to the surface of a rotatable swinging member supported on a pivot journal on the stand of the foot pedal. A drum beater attached to the swinging member for being swung thereby toward or away from a drum. The surface of the swinging member having a large diameter curvature section and behind it a small diameter curvature section. The linking member is moved off the large diameter section of the surface of the swinging member as the drum beater is swung from an inoperative position toward an operative position at the drum and is moved off the small diameter section of the swinging member in the final part of the trip of the drum beater toward the drum head.

  • Patent number: 5355759
Abstract: A structure for holding a guitar string including a base plate at the guitar body near the bridge, a saddle above the base plate, a saddle height position adjusting screw and a front-back position adjusting screw for the saddle. The latter screw is held in a groove in a holding member. The holding member is rotatable in a fixed member on the base plate. The rotatability of the holding member enables the height of the saddle to be set, with corresponding adjustment in the tilt angle of the front-back position adjustment screw and the holding body in the hole. A screw clamps a holding part against the front-back position adjusting screw and to also clamp the holding part at a selected rotative position to which the holding part has been adjusted in conformity with the height of the saddle.

  • Patent number: 5350143
Abstract: A collapsible stand for use in supporting a guitar or another object. The stand includes a top main member, a central leg which is pivotable forwardly and rearwardly of the main member. In the forward position, the central leg is in a supporting position. Right and left side legs are provided to the right and left of the central leg and the side legs are pivotable outwardly away from the central leg and inwardly toward the central leg. The left and right side legs each include a supporting part thereon, e.g., for supporting a guitar. In particular, the left and right side legs are L shaped, and their bottom forwardly projecting parts would support a guitar. The extent of opening apart of the left and right side legs and the extent of rearward movement of the central leg when the legs are opened apart is restricted by the shape of the main member which the legs engage.
