  • Patent number: 9388771
Abstract: In an intake controller for an internal combustion engine, an opening controlling unit performs, when a light load operation is performed during a manual forced regeneration process of a diesel particulate filter which reduces an amount of particulate matter included in exhaust gas exhausted from the internal combustion engine, control to form a bypass passage by setting an open-close valve to a fully closed state and a variable turbo nozzle to a fully closed state and which performs, when an amount of the injected fuel detected by a fuel injection amount detecting unit becomes zero, control to set the open-close valve from the fully closed state to a fully opened state and the variable turbo nozzle from the fully closed state to a fully opened state.

  • Patent number: 6729315
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas recirculation circuit, the efficiency of a turbocharger is raised in a wide engine rotational speed area and, even when a pressure in an intake circuit is higher than that in an exhaust circuit, an exhaust gas can be circulated. For this purpose, an openable intake throttle valve (12e) is provided on the more upstream side than an exhaust gas circulation position of the intake circuit (12), or a narrow portion (12b) is formed on the exhaust gas circulation position of the intake circuit and an intake bypass circuit (12c) for bypassing the narrow portion is provided. Further, an intake and exhaust bypass circuit (20) for connecting the intake circuit to the exhaust circuit (16) is provided.

  • Patent number: 6435166
Abstract: A Roots blower driven by a direct-current motor provided to a recirculation duct for connecting an exhaust duct and an intake duct to extract a part of exhaust gas of a diesel engine to recirculate to an intake side. Accordingly, even when a differential pressure between an exhaust side and the intake side, or even when a pressure on the intake side is higher than the exhaust side fluctuates, the exhaust gas flowing to the recirculation duct can be forcibly pumped by the Roots blower while appropriately controlling flow rate thereof, so that an optimum recirculation amount of exhaust gas in accordance with operation condition of the diesel engine can be recirculated to the intake side.

  • Patent number: 6006706
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a valve mechanism of an engine, in which two stage control at engine start and during high-speed running simplifies a construction of the control apparatus, poor starting in high power engine is avoided at engine start and white smoke exhausted immediately after engine start is eliminated, while cylinder pressures due to high power are suppressed during high-speed running, the NOx exhaust gas produced is reduced because of combustion temperature decrease, and the compression pressure is decreased to reduce the loss of horsepower.
