    Abstract: Provided is a boot seal for a variable compression ratio engine having an inner layer free from tears or creases. The boot seal comprises a boot body having a cylinder-attaching part, a crankcase-attaching part and a connecting part for connecting these parts, and a rigid plate disposed in at least one of the cylinder-attaching part and the crankcase-attaching part and having a through hole. The boot body comprises an outer layer formed by injection molding a rubber material, and an inner layer formed of fluorine-containing rubber. An injection gate for the outer layer is located at a portion of the outer layer opposing the rigid plate. Both an outer surface and an inner surface of at least a portion of the rigid plate having the through hole are covered with the rubber material supplied from the injection gate.

    Abstract: A structure of an opening section of a fuel tank, which is capable of detaching a tank cap without damaging positioning projections provided in the tank cap. The opening section has a cylindrical portion extending outwardly from a tank main body, and a metallic annular tank cap engaging member having a plurality of engaging holes is attached to the cylindrical portion. A plurality of engaging claw parts of a metallic annular attaching member are engaged in the engaging holes of the tank cap engaging member to hold the tank cap with the attaching member and the tank cap engaging member. The tank cap has tank cap positioning projections, and the tank cap engaging member has positioning holes for insertion of the tank cap positioning projections, and at least one engaging claw part and at least one engaging hole are respectively made longer in a circumferential direction than remaining engaging claw parts and remaining engaging holes.

The liquid in the orifice effects resonant oscillation with a vibration input during engine idling operation.

    Abstract: A vibration isolator includes an upper coupling member to be mounted on a vibrating body, a cup-shaped holder to be mounted on a car body, and a rubber-like insulator which is located between the upper coupling member and the cup-shaped holder to isolate vibrations from the vibrating body. The vibration isolator further includes a main chamber and a subchamber, which are arranged in series with the insulator and in which a liquid, an incompressive fluid, is enclosed, an annular orifice interconnecting the main chamber and the subchamber, a partition member dividing the main chamber and the subchamber, a diaphragm which is made of a rubber membrane-like member and defines a part of the subchamber, and an air chamber formed below the diaphragm. Both the partition member and the diaphragm are entirely formed of rubber-like elastic bodies. This provides a large area for the central flexible portion of the partition member, reducing the manufacturing costs of the parts including the diaphragm.

    Abstract: A hydraulic damping device including a main damping body protected by a cylindrical portion with downwardly extending side walls. The damping device includes a flexible membrane which has a step portion, a main liquid chamber, an auxiliary liquid chamber and a partition formed in a cup-shape. A passage is made between the step portion of the flexible membrane and the interior of the partition. The partition divides the liquid chamber into a main liquid chamber and an auxiliary liquid chamber. The partition also includes a hole formed therein, a channel and a concave recess formed on the partition side wall between the hole and the channel. This structure permits the main liquid chamber to be connected to the auxiliary liquid chamber through the hole, the passage and the channel. The membrane is inserted into the interior of a cylindrical portion of the main damping body together with the partition and the damping liquid to define a simply constructed sub-assembly.

    Abstract: In a fluid-filled vibration damping device, a rubber material is injection molded in the upper half of an inner space of a cylindrical insert plate 1 to form a damping rubber member 2 through which an inner tube 3 is retained. A concave 21 is formed in the center of the damping rubber member 2 in such a way that it extends from the periphery to a point close to the inner tube 3 such that both sidewalls thereof are left intact. The concave 21 provides a main fluid compartment A when the insert plate 1 is pressed and fixed in the outer tube. The insert plate 1 has a large concave in the lower half thereof and a plurality of openings are made in the sidewall of the concave 12 except for the bottom wall 121 thereof. A rubber layer 5, injection molded in the concave, has a central part of its width left intact in block form and part of this rubber layer provides a thin rubber wall that covers the openings in the sidewall of the concave 12 which face a cavity 53.
