    Abstract: A display device properly corrects chromaticity of display images with achieving high brightness. A liquid crystal display device 10 includes a liquid crystal panel 11 and a backlight unit 12. The liquid crystal display device 10 includes a pair of boards 11a, 11b and a liquid crystal layer 11c formed of liquid crystals that change their optical characteristics by implication of an electric field. The backlight unit 12 exits light toward the liquid crystal panel 11. One of the boards 11a, 11b of the liquid crystal panel 11 includes a color filter 19 including color portions R, G, B, Y each in red, green, blue, yellow. The backlight unit 12 includes LEDs 24 as a light source and each of the LEDs includes an LED chip 24a as a light emission source and a phosphor that is excited by light from the LED chip 24a and emits light. The phosphor includes at least a YAG-based phosphor.

The relay terminal includes a pair of flexible portions 34 that hold the power board therebetween and are electrically connected to the power board 16. The flexible portions 34 are formed such that the longitudinal directions thereof cross the longitudinal direction of the discharge tube 15.

    Abstract: In a discharge tube, a conductive ferrule is provided on an end portion of a glass tube. The ferrule includes a body that is to be mounted to the outer circumference of the glass tube and has a contact portion to be electrically conductively fixed to a relay connector (or a bearing device). Further included is a conductive portion that extends from the body so as to have elastic contact with an outer lead. The outer lead will not be under load due to the weight of the discharge tube, but the conductive portion solely has elastic contact therewith. Thus, stress concentration on the outer lead can be prevented.

Three mounting portions 30 to 32 and three mounting holes 33 to 35 are provided in relative positions so as to restrict mounting of the lamp clip 18 to the chassis 14 in an orientation other than a predefined orientation.

    Abstract: A lamp holding apparatus includes a mounting plate having a pair of locking portions protruding to a base side. The locking portion is inserted into a mounting hole provided at the base and capable of being locked to a peripheral edge on its back side. The abutting portions are provided at three spots with one of the locking portions interposed therebetween. At the time of mounting, the abutting portions abut the base, and the mounting plate is elastically deformed to be warped, whereby the locking surface of the locking portion is kept locked to a peripheral edge of a back side of the mounting hole by its elastic force.

    Abstract: A lamp holding apparatus for mounting a lamp to a lamp mounting member includes a mounting plate provided with a locking portion which protrudes to a base side, inserted into a mounting hole provided at the base and is lockable to a peripheral edge of a back side thereof. The mounting plate is provided with a pin which protrudes to an opposite side from the base side and is capable of being gripped by an operator at a time of being attached to and detached from the base. The locking portion is disposed at a position corresponding to a back side of the pin. As a result, when the locking portion is inserted into the mounting hole while gripping the pin, both the locking portion and the mounting hole are easily positioned. Thus, at a time of insertion, bending forces are reduced.
