  • Patent number: 8639063
Abstract: An information processing system stores image files formed by an image forming apparatus in a desired storage position in an information processing terminal through simple operations. The information processing terminal, in accordance with an instruction to incorporate an image file, sends to the image forming apparatus information that includes at least identification information by which to identify a storage destination for the image file, a file name for the data file corresponding to a selected icon and storage position information that indicates the storage position in a folder of a directory in the storage destination in which the data file is to be stored. The image forming apparatus registers the information, and causes a selection key for the registered information to be displayed. A new selection key is created for information to be displayed when new settings information is registered based on the information sent from the information processing terminal.

  • Patent number: 8411300
Abstract: In a workflow execution system, work control information for executing a work assigned to one of a plurality of image processing apparatuses connected to a network; workflow execution information indicating which works of a workflow have been executed; and information indicating an image processing apparatus on the next tier, are stored in a portable recording medium. When the work is executed by a proxy image processing apparatus, it is judged from the information stored in the portable recording medium whether or not the work can be executed by the proxy image processing apparatus, and if it can be executed, the work is executed based on the information stored in the portable recording medium. When proxy execution of the work is completed, workflow execution information including the execution result and image information are stored in the portable recording medium and transmitted to the image processing apparatus on the next tier.

  • Patent number: 8326844
Abstract: An image processing apparatus has a storage device provided for a plurality of operators for storing files and run history on the files for each of the plurality of operators. Operators among the plurality of operators can be related. A display device displays information on files which were dealt with by a group including an operator and other operators related to the operator among the plurality of operators when the operator instructs to display the information on files. In a modified example, the information on files is displayed when the operator accesses said storage device.

  • Patent number: 7982919
Abstract: An image forming apparatus, method, and computer program product can create and transmit an e-mail to which is attached an image file created by an image forming apparatus and a file received from an external device. The image forming apparatus can include an image reader and an operation unit including one-touch keys. If a received email instructs one-touch key registration, mailing information including recipient information and one or more attached files can be obtained from the email and associated with a one-touch key. If reading of an original document by the image reader is specified by operation of a one-touch key, the mailing information and file information associated with the one-touch key can be read, an email can be created including the created image file and the one or more attached files, and the email can be sent to a recipient corresponding to the recipient information.

  • Patent number: 7945588
Abstract: When a user logs in to an MFP and inserts a medium, a serial number of the medium is stored in a device information database in correspondence with user information of the user, and a descramble key, e.g., a hash code of the serial number is registered in the user information. When the medium is removed from the MFP which is still logged in, the registration is deleted. When the MFP into which the medium is still inserted is logged out, no registration is deleted. When the user logs in to the MFP into which the medium is already inserted, the MFP determines whether a descramble key is registered in user information of the user. When a second user logs in to an MFP from which a first user had logged out while forgetting to remove a medium, the MFP prohibits the second user from accessing the medium because no descramble key is registered in user information of the second user.

  • Patent number: 7821396
Abstract: An image forming device including a document tag reader that detects a contactless IC tag (document tag) attached to the document. If the document tag reader detects a document tag attached to a document, the tagged document is recognized as having a high management level, and a tagged recording sheet is fed (selected) from a sheet tray storing tagged recording sheets to which a contactless IC tag (sheet tag) is attached. On the other hand, if the document tag reader does not detect a document tag, the document is recognized as having a low management level, and a not-tagged recording sheet is fed (selected) from a sheet tray storing not-tagged recording sheets to which a contactless IC tag (sheet tag) is not attached.

  • Patent number: 7725474
Abstract: An apparatus and method for information processing in a network system providing shared folders across a plurality of information processing apparatuses (personal computers) via network. A shared folder management table contains the IP addresses, identifiers of the personal computers, the names of shared folders, and the number of times or attempts to transmit data, etc. Searching of the shared folders is performed at given intervals of time and a search result is compared with the last search result. Based on the search result, a new management data founded is registered in the management table. If a destination personal computer remains inaccessible longer than predetermined time, management data of such personal computers are deleted from the management table.

  • Publication number: 20080304660
Abstract: An MFP 1 reads file information and directory information from a mounted medium to calculate a hash value, and encrypts the hash value and a user name of a user logged thereinto to create an authentication key. The authentication key and network information of the MFP 1 are written to the medium, and the hash value is retained in MFP 1 in association with the user name. An MFP 2 reads the above-described information from the mounted medium, and transmits to the MFP 1 the authentication key and a hash value calculated from the file information and the directory information of the medium, to thereby request authentication. Based on a user name obtained by decoding the authentication key, the MFP 1 compares the hash value retained in association with the user name and the hash value transmitted from the MFP 2, and authenticates the user's usage of the MFP 2.
